CHAMPION LETTING THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

COLUMBIANA OH- Gabrielle Gradishar hit two home runs and drove in four as Champion defeated Crestview 16-0 on Monday at Crestview High School. Gradishar homered in the first and third innings.

Gradishar also dazzled in the circle. She struck out 12 batters on the day. They also gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking none. Completing yet another no hitter in her career total.

Champion got on the board in the top of the first inning after Gradishar homered to center field, Isabella Meyer doubled, Zoe Palette grounded out, Crestview committed an error, and Sami Munroe singled, each scoring one run.  They were able to add to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Sam Strock singled, and Hailey Householder homered to left field, each scoring two runs. Champion scored six runs on six hits in the top of the third inning. Gradishar homered to center field, scoring three runs, Meyer homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Munroe grounded out, scoring one run.

The Flashes amassed 16 hits in the game. Addie Warzala, Householder, and Meyer each collected multiple hits. Householder led with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game.

Gradishar threw an immaculate inning in the second, striking out the side on nine pitches. Warzala stole two bases. Champion was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Warzala made the most plays with 14.

CRESTVIEW CONTINUES MVAC REIGN

NEWTON FALLS OH- In a display of unwavering dominance, the Crestview volleyball team asserted their authority in the MVAC with a commanding sweep of Newton Falls. The three-set victory, with scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-17, highlighted Crestview’s exceptional skill and teamwork.

Crestview’s offensive prowess was on full display, with multiple players stepping up to lead the charge. Grace Auer was a force to be reckoned with, recording an astounding 15 kills while also contributing 20 assists. Her versatility and impact on the game were undeniable.

Abbey Emch added to the offensive onslaught with 15 kills, showcasing her prowess at the net. Emch also recorded 2 blocks and 3 aces, underscoring her all-around contributions. Lainy Auer chipped in with 7 kills, 16 assists, and 4 aces, demonstrating her versatility as a key playmaker.

Katie Lissi contributed 3 aces, adding to Crestview’s dominance from the service line. Julia Blasko showcased her defensive prowess with 15 crucial digs, ensuring that Crestview controlled the backcourt.

Newton Falls put up a valiant effort, with Ivy Huang delivering 7 kills and Jada Blutcher contributing 6 kills. Dani Drake orchestrated the team’s offense with 12 assists and displayed her defensive capabilities with 10 digs.

Crestview’s victory was not only characterized by their offensive firepower but also their all-around excellence. Their fans have every reason to be excited about their prospects as they continue their journey through the season.

As Crestview continues their dominance in the MVAC, they remain a team to watch in the volleyball scene. Their impressive performance against Newton Falls demonstrates their determination to maintain their position at the top.

GARFIELD SECURES LONE SPOT AT THE TOP

COLUMBIANA OH- Both Garfield and Crestview were off to a fantastic start in the MVAC this season. It set up a mammoth matchup on Thursday night with first place on the line. Garfield flexed their undefeated muscles and earned a solid 60-49 victory to earn a spot in the MVAC driver seat.

Garfield’s three headed monster made themselves large. Laura McCoy led all scorers with 20 points on the night. Madeline Shirkey and Mandy Cardinal both scored 16 as well.

Addison Rhodes and Luvrain Gaskins both led the Rebels with 13 points a piece.  Ava Bucey was one score away from double figures finishing with 9 points.  Lexi Blower also chipped in 8 to the Rebel cause.

Garfield is still undefeated on the season and they will move on to play Monday at Brookfield.  Crestview will be on the road as well as they travel to LaBrae.
