HEADED HOME: WESTERN RESERVE LADY BLUE DEVILS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

BERLIN CENTER, OH – Western Reserve front man is none other than Michael Cook. This is his first season with the Lady Blue Devils but he has been around the block a time or two. Western Reserve softball is very young this year and like everyone COVID cut their season short last year. The coaches are still getting to know the girls so every “job” on the diamond is still available. Coach Cook also talked to us about the history of Western Reserve softball and it is a long one! He knows he has high expectations and is ready for the challenge, but first it’s back to the basics and teaching is his first priority. Winning pitches turn into winning at bats, winning at bats means scoring runs and ultimately winning innings and games.

HEADED HOME: WEST BRANCH LADY WARRIORS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

BELOIT, OH – Head coach Jennifer Woods and the West Branch Lady Warriors are very excited for the upcoming season. The Lady Warriors will be led by Jordan Anderson in the circle as the ace senior who is expected to carry to load. Seniors Destany Blake, Sam Morris, Jaci Thomad, and Madison Rhome will help lead the squad this year. The entire outfield is newcomers and with COVID destroying their season last year there is not much experience in the grass. However, with that being said Coach Woods expects them to find a way and toe that Warrior line. Team goals are always high with the Lady Warriors, as there is a lot of state experience still on the field from just a few years ago. They will look to get back to glory once more this season.

Coach Mootz also has four juniors who lettered as freshman, and of course like the rest of Ohio spring sports they missed out on last season due to COVID. Coach reminded us that he knows he has high expectations as this year is the 20th anniversary of 2001 Boardman Lady Spartans state championship team, that being said, he understands its always one game at a time. Defense and pitching will lead the way for Boardman and they expect their bats will heat up as the weather does, right in time for the state tournament.

HEADED HOME: SOUTH RANGE LADY RAIDERS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

CANFIELD, OH – Head coach, Jeff DeRose and the South Range Lady Raiders are looking to overcome the disappointment they experienced last season like everybody else did due to COVID taking away their season. However 2021 begins a new season and the Lady Raiders are excited to be back on the diamond and the staff is eager to once again be coaching softball.

Looking back, Coach DeRose expected big things last year and wanted to fight for the conference title. The good news for the South Range Lady Raiders is that the majority of the current players play or have played travel ball and played a ton of games in the summer. Coach DeRose wants to pick right up from there and start off on the right foot straight out of the gate. With not many girls coming back from last year there will be new starters in places. Young but travel experienced. Coach DeRose will look to get the most out of his young and talented team as we move closer to first pitch.
