NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – The Springfield Tigers played host to Monroeville in the first round of the playoffs last week and came away with a 35-21 victory. Two seniors, Kolten Ruark and Tyler Young led the charge for the Tigers as they helped pace Springfield all night long. Up next for the Tigers is going to be a long bus ride down to Mount Vernon to take on the #2 seeded Danville on Friday night.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, sat down with Kolten and Tyler this week at the Tiger’s Table to talk about the first round match up against Monroeville, what the boys did well and what they want to do moving forward to keep the momentum going, what their keys to victory are for this week, and so much more!

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – The Springfield Tigers offense and defense looked midseason form against Brookfield in week two as they handled business from the opening kick off till the final whistle. That dominance was seen particularly in the trenches as the offensive and defensive lines were getting big pushes all night long and really kept the Warriors at bay. One reason for the outstanding line play was senior offensive tackle and defensive tackle, Tyler Young. Young’s leadership on the line and vocal motivation had the Tigers ready to go each and every snap. Not only did he keep the boys in the trenches going, he was seen making big plays all night whether it was making a huge hole in the run game or blowing up the Warriors line to get to the quarterback or stuff the run!

YSN’s own Steve Leslie had the opportunity to sit down with Tyler at the Tigers Table this week to talk about his performance in week two against Brookfield, what he thinks this Springfield team is capable of this year, what Young wants to do after high school, and a rapid fire questionnaire where we all get to learn about what makes Tyler the person and player he is!

All that and so much more in this week’s Springfield Tigers football player profile with senior standout lineman, Tyler Young!
