BOARDMAN WILL FACE FAMILIAR FOE ONE STEP FROM FINALS

IRONTON OH- Boardman 12U softball won state a season ago with a dominating win over Clay.  This year the two teams would meet again as Clay desperately wanted revenge.  Although Boardman didn’t pull off a run rule this time around, they still showed Clay what a power they were in the state of Ohio. They put themselves one game closer to a repeat championship with a 5-2 victory.

Emma Davies led Boardman’s offense as she went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.  Grace Rinaldi also got herself an RBI on a 1-2 day.  Taylor Watts put in a 1-2 effort and crossed the plate for Boardman.  Vanessa Torres doubled in her only at bat of the game.

Davies was also dominant in the circle. She gave up 2 earned runs on just 1 hit. She struck 9 while only walking a pair.

Boardman will now play local rival Austintown on Tuesday at 3.30 with a trip to the state finals on the line.  The two teams split their district matchups. Boardman won 3-1, and Austintown came away with a 7-0 victory.
