BROOKFIELD FINDS A WAY TO AVOID SCRAPPY LEOPARDS

BROOKFIELD OH- In a closely contested rematch, Brookfield faced a determined Liberty team that kept them on their toes throughout the game. Despite having beaten Liberty by 30 earlier in the season, this time around, the Leopards relentlessly challenged Brookfield. The game took a dramatic turn as Liberty secured a late 32-31 lead, raising hopes for an upset. However, Brookfield’s scoring leader, Cailey Wellman, rose to the occasion, executing a fadeaway shot through contact and converting an old-fashioned 3-point play to give Brookfield a 34-32 advantage. In the end, Brookfield held on to secure a hard-fought 36-32 victory.

Cailey Wellman had a standout performance, contributing an impressive 21 points and 11 rebounds, earning a well-deserved double-double. Mya Jumper added 9 points to the scoring effort for Brookfield.

On the Liberty side, Kylee Thomas led with 11 points, and Mia Parker contributed 10 points. Liberty showcased their shooting prowess with a collective effort, hitting 6 three-pointers as a team.
