By Ty Bartell

NILES OH- The Frederick Keys salvaged the final game of their three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers with a nail-biting 4-3 victory.

Brandon Bergert started on the mound for Mahoning Valley, while Frederick countered with Adam Falinski. The Keys took the lead in the top of the second inning with a Zech Samayoa RBI triple, making it 1-0.
Frederick extended their lead in the fourth inning.

Allan Gil-Fernandez doubled, putting runners at second and third with one out. A run scored on a wild pitch, and another crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Irvin Escobar, giving the Keys a 3-0 advantage.
Mahoning Valley got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with a double-steal. Joel Dragoo stole second, and John Schroeder stole home on the delayed steal, cutting the deficit to 3-1. The Scrappers tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from Max Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Taylor, making it 3-3.

Frederick responded in the top of the eighth. After Boston Mabeus loaded the bases, Gil-Fernandez drew a walk, putting the Keys back on top 4-3. Despite a scare in the bottom of the ninth, with Mahoning Valley having the tying run at second and the winning run at first, Evan Yates secured the win for Frederick after blowing the save.

Both teams are off on Monday and will return to action on Tuesday, June 11th. Mahoning Valley (3-3) will host State College (5-1), while Frederick (2-4) will host Trenton (1-5).
