SALEM SNEAKS PAST POTTERS

SALEM OH- With both teams eliminated from the playoffs, Salem and East Liverpool renewed one of the longest standing rivalries in the state of Ohio on Friday Night. After 48 minutes, with little not much score to show, the Quakers came out on top 14-7 over the Potters in the defensive struggle.

Same struck first with a little over a minute left in the 1st quarter on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Johnson to Blaize Exline, but the Potters would respond in the 2nd with a touchdown strike of their own to tie the game at seven apiece at halftime.
Salem would get on the board again in the 3rd with a short pass from Johnson to Jax Booth for 6 more plus the extra point to take a 14-7 lead, which would prove to be enough to hold on for the win.
The Quaker defense came up with a couple huge stops in the fourth quarter to end the Liverpool hopes of a comeback and preserve the victory.
Salem (5-4) does not have an opponent yet for week 10, but is scheduled to take on United the following week.

QUAKERS SNEAK BY ALLIANCE

SALEM OH- In a matchup that usually features points galore, the Quakers and Aviators battled to a uncharacteristically low score, with the Quakers coming out on top 20-13 at Sebo Stadium.

It looked like it it would stick with the trend with alliance scoring within the first 3 minutes of the game on a 9 yard touchdown but Kayden Davis and another in the second to take a 13-7 lead over the Quakers at the Intermission. The young Salem defense came to play and held the Aviators to just 6 points the rest of the way (all in the first half) en route to victory.
The Quakers took control of the game to start the second half on a beautiful reverse on the opening kick off between Blaize Exline and Jax Booth. The return set up a 2 yard touchdown score by Jackson Johnson, who followed that up 2 minutes later with another to give the Quakers a 20-13 lead.
The young defense, which has had its ups and downs all season, applied the pressure to the Alliance backfield through the second half coming up with sacks and hurries, led by John Kidd, Divine Allah, and company, at the perfect time to stall Aviator drives, and preserve the victory.
The Quakers (3-3) play host to a familiar foe from their days in the MAC in Struthers, next week in the first round of the State Playoffs at Sebo Stadium.

QUAKERS RUN OUT OF GAS AGAINST MARLINGTON

SALEM OH- Salem dug themselves a hole for the 4th week in a row, but unlike last week they were unable to overcome the deficit, falling to Marlington 45-35 at Sebo Stadium.

The Quakers fought all the way back to cut the Duke lead to 1, 28-27, but never got closer as Marlington was able to close out the Quakers. The Dukes used a powerful rushing attack, led by Nolan Hooker who rushed for over 200 yards on the way to victory.
Jackson Johnson led the way with 5 touchdown passes with over 400 yards, and Blaize Exline and Jax Booth both had huge games receiving for the Quakers, but were also plagued by turnovers (4 ints) and a couple penalties that ended Quaker chances to get back into the game.
Same returns to action next week on the road at Minerva. Kick-off is 7 p.m.
