BLINK AND YOU’LL MISS BLINSKY
POLAND, OH – As the Poland Girls Soccer Team embarks on another competitive season, one name stands out amongst the senior class: Ava Blinsky. A pivotal player since her sophomore year, Ava has been an integral part of the team’s success and now steps into her final high school season with aspirations to make history. In a recent interview with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig, Ava shared her goals, leadership experiences, and personal journey. “It’s very sad coming to an end, but there are many opportunities I’m excited for this year,” Ava said, reflecting on her emotions as a senior.
Ava’s primary objective for her final year is clear: surpassing the team’s previous playoff achievements. “We went far my sophomore year, but I truly believe we can go further this year,” she commented, expressing confidence in her team’s ability to set new records. As a team captain, Ava’s leadership extends beyond the soccer field. “I’ve always had many players I’ve looked up to, and I want to be that person for all my younger players,” she revealed. Her positive attitude and close bond with teammates have fostered a supportive environment both on and off the pitch.
Ava’s soccer journey began at age five, and she has been hooked ever since, particularly relishing the thrill of scoring goals and assisting teammates. “I loved scoring, and I loved everyone I played with,” she reminisced about the early days. Balancing school and sports is no easy feat, yet Ava handles it with grace. Enjoying subjects like English and economics while conquering challenging classes such as chemistry demonstrates her academic dedication. She credits study sessions with friends for getting through the tough times.
Notably, Ava faced a significant hurdle last year with a serious injury. “Dealing with school on crutches and all the schoolwork was tough, but I always pushed myself to get back to where I was,” she admitted. Her resilience and determination to return to the field are testament to her strength, both mentally and physically. Ava’s leadership has been shaped by role models in her life, emphasizing the influence of her parents and her peers. Avery Grisha, in particular, left a lasting impression during Ava’s freshman year. “She was a good role model to all of us. I want to be like that for the younger players,” Ava stated. As Ava prepares to walk down the aisle to receive her diploma, her legacy at Poland High School is assured. Her journey is one of passion, perseverance, and leadership, symbolizing the spirit of Poland Girls Soccer.
