ARIANNA IS GRANDE

LOWELLVILLE, OH- In an exclusive interview with YSN Live, Lowellville Rockets’ volleyball standout Arianna Romano shared her thoughts on her rapid high school volleyball career, her athletic inspirations, and her future endeavors.

“It’s honestly gone by really fast,” said Romano, who is now in her senior year. “I feel like our summer just started, and now we’re having three games a week.”
As she faces her final season on the court, Romano expressed mixed emotions. “It’s a weird feeling because I know that I’ll never get to play with the teammates I’m playing with right now. It’s kind of sad but also enjoyable at the same time,” she revealed.

Reflecting on the influential figures in her journey, Romano highlighted her best friend and teammate, Hadesa, and coach Josh from her freshman year. “Hadesa has been my best friend through it all. We’ve been playing together since 7th grade. Coach Josh really pushed me a lot when I was a freshman,” she said.

One of the standout moments in her career was avenging the school’s football team by defeating Springfield during her freshman year. “The football team lost to them that year, and we just beat them right after. It was a big deal,” said Romano with a smile.

Apart from volleyball, Romano is also a dedicated track athlete. “I run 100 hurdles, 200, 4×4, and sometimes open 400,” she shared. While she holds a special preference for volleyball, she appreciates the personal achievements track offers.

With graduation on the horizon, Romano’s post-secondary plans remain undecided. “I’m thinking something in sports medicine or juvenile justice, but I’m not sure yet,” Romano admitted. As for staying close to home or venturing out, she envisions a balanced option, possibly Pittsburgh or Cleveland.

Regardless of the path she chooses, Romano’s gratitude towards her parents remains steadfast. “My parents definitely keep me going. I wouldn’t be here without them,” she emphasized.

As the Rockets’ season progresses, Arianna Romano continues to leave her mark on the Lowellville volleyball court, embodying the spirit and resilience of a true athlete.

EMCH WILL CALL PITTSBURGH HOME

COLUMBIANA OH- One of the best volleyball players in the area made a splash in the news last week as she made her college commitment known to the world. Crestview junior Abbey Emch announced that she has decided to continue her volleyball career at the University of Pittsburgh.

Last season Emch was near unstoppable in the Rebel attack as she finished with 439 kills for  23 win Crestview.  She averaged 5.2 kills per set and hit at a percentage of .408.  She also led the team in blocking totaling 96 on the season.  The well rounded athlete didn’t stop there as she also served up 55 aces.  All of her hard work was enough to get the attention of the Pitt coaching staff.

Emch ventures into her junior year of high school with plenty of goals left on the table for her career and team before putting on the blue and gold.  The top goal of course is to get Crestview a trip to Wright State to play in the State Tournament.  Abbey was able to take the time out of her day to come on YSN’s Running Point to talk about her commitment to Pittsburgh and what went into the decision.
