RUNNING WEDNESDAYS WITH RICK SYPERT (EP 4) FEATURING THE MCDONALD THROWING TEAM

Another week has come and gone in the track season, and things are really starting to heat up. As the calendar turns into the first full week of May, it brings on conference championship bragging rights.  With every local conference having their championship meet this week, Anthony and Coach Sypert certainly have a lot to preview. Which conference will be the most competitive? What are some of the big matchups that will happen? Who are the favorites to take home the trophies? All of those questions and more are answered in Episode 4 of Running Wednesdays with Rick Sypert!

Also in this episode, we feature a group of athletes that has been a picture of dominance.  McDonald is known from their success in Track & Field and this season is no disappointment.  Here by extremely popular demand is the throwing team that represents the Blue Devils every week. The numbers that these throwers are putting up make all of them favorites to get to Dayton.  That’s right, there’s a real chance that McDonald could send their entire throwing roster to state.  Join us as we hear from every member of the team about what has made them so successful.

RUNNING WEDNESDAYS WITH RICK SYPERT (EP 3) FEATURING BROCK FARRIS & BLAKE BAKER

Another week has come and gone at the track, and yes there is a ton to go over.  With a huge Chuck of results coming in from the Poland Invitational, and beyond you can tell these runners are starting to find their groove as we race towards post season. Rick Sypert and Anthony Hartwig are back this week to go over all the biggest names and times from the prior week.  They also preview the week ahead which is highlighted by the Trumbull County Championships.

This week the show brings on two special guests. Current rivals, and future teammates a rock Farris and Blake Bsker.  Brock from Boardman has etched his name in record books and is considered one of the best in the region.  While Blake represents the Spartans AAC rival Canfield with speed that is seldomly seen.  Both athletes have a massive reputation that goes far beyond their talent on the track.  The sportsmanship and grace in which they carry themselves had granted them the respect of the entire Track & Field community.  Both Brock and Blake look to continue their track careers at Youngstown State after graduating high school. But don’t worry Spartan, and Cardinal fans, they still have plenty of goals in their sights before that happens.  Check out Episode 3 of Running Wednesdays with Rick Sypert!

RUNNING WEDNESDAYS WITH RICK SYPERT (EP 2) FEATURING SOPHIA YON

With the calendar quickly turning through April, the high school track and field season is heating up.  With only four weeks of guaranteed running left for teams, it’s time now to make the final push towards the postseason.  The talent pool in the sport runs deep in the YSN family.  Luckily we have a track guru to help us sort it all out.  On Running Wednesday Boardman Girls Track Coach Rick Sypert joins Anthony Hartwig to break down all the Track & Field action in the area. This week they take a dive into the results of the Mahoning county championships, talk to Sophia Yon from Lowellville, and preview the week ahead.

Sophia Yon may just be the best distance runner in the region.  However, getting herself there hasn’t been an easy feat.  Yon has had to battle not only physical adversity, but also even tougher mental adversity.  She has truly learned how to positively talk to herself to help her confidence and mental strength.  Yon will continue her track career after high school in the Big 10. attending Purdue University to pursue not only glory on the track but also a career in engineering.  Check out a great Episode of Running Wednesdays only on YSN!
