HEADED HOME: WEST BRANCH LADY WARRIORS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

BELOIT, OH – Head coach Jennifer Woods and the West Branch Lady Warriors are very excited for the upcoming season. The Lady Warriors will be led by Jordan Anderson in the circle as the ace senior who is expected to carry to load. Seniors Destany Blake, Sam Morris, Jaci Thomad, and Madison Rhome will help lead the squad this year. The entire outfield is newcomers and with COVID destroying their season last year there is not much experience in the grass. However, with that being said Coach Woods expects them to find a way and toe that Warrior line. Team goals are always high with the Lady Warriors, as there is a lot of state experience still on the field from just a few years ago. They will look to get back to glory once more this season.

WESTMINSTER TITANS MEN’S BASKETBALL POST SEASON PREVIEW

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Head coach Kevin Siroki and the Westminster Titans men’s basketball team are gearing up for what the hope will be a championship run in the PAC Tournament! The Titans were able to achieve one of their many goals this season as they locked up the #1 seed for the tournament as they posted an 8-1 record on the season. Westminster’s first test in the tournament will be against the #8 ranked Franciscan at home on Tuesday night!

On the season, Daniel Ritter and Reese Leone have been consistent performers for Coach Siroki. Ritter, a senior guard from South Range High School, is averaging 14.7 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. He is looked upon for that important senior leadership throughout the long season but also to teach the younger guys what it means to be a member of the Titans basketball program and to teach the “Titan way” of doing things. Freshman guard, Reese Leone, a recent graduate of West Branch High School, is one of those young rising stars for the Titans that looks up to Dan Ritter as a mentor to learn how the college game is played. Reese is currently having a great season as he is averaging 11.3 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and 4.8 assists per game. As Leone continues to blossom into the point guard role and build his confidence, the Titans will only continue to get better as time goes on!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach Siroki, Dan Ritter, and Reese Leone, via video chat this week to discuss the upcoming playoff match up with Franciscan, what it means to be a Titan, what Coach’s impact has been on Ritter and Leone, and what we can expect from the Titans come gameday tonight!

All that and so much more in this very special, exclusive, interview with Westminster Titans men’s basketball head coach, Kevin Siroki, and star players, Dan Ritter and Reese Leone!

COWBOYS RIDE INTO THIRD STRAIGHT DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio –

The playoff atmosphere was in full effect on the west side of Youngstown as the Chaney Cowboys(11-6) looked to make it to their third straight district final.

Both teams started off hot, putting the score tied at 7 all with half a quarter to play. The Cowboys proceeded to go on a 26-0 run to blow the game wide open.

Chaney continued their scoring onslaught and defensive pressure through the end of the first half and into the start of the second.

West Branch (18-7) wouldn’t go easily into the night however, putting together a strong defensive effort in the third quarter led by their stout defense in the post. Big men Andrew Coffee and Josh Gregory came out of the half with an attitude, poised to protect the rim.
