FEED THE PIDGEON

BELOIT OH- Last season, the West Branch girls basketball team were one of the final four teams remaining in Ohio’s state tournament. 15 minutes before the game, they were pulled off the court and told by their coach that the game was canceled. For then junior and now senior Jillian Pidgeon, it was a very emotional experience. She knew how hard her team, and especially the group of seniors had worked to get to that point. She said it grove her and her group of the seniors to win as much as they could for the seniors that came before them.

Jillian’s biggest goal this season was to become a better leader for her team. She wasn’t the only one who had to step into that role. With four out the five starters departing from last year’s team, a lot of Warriors had tp accept more responsibility. Coach DeShields sat down with each player and laid out what they would be expected to bring to the table this year, and each player has accepted it. For Pidgeon, the biggest thing she wanted to do was not just lead verbally, but by example. She understands that if she puts in the work and reaches the West Branch standard the young players on the team will feel more comfortable to come to her. She wants them to come to her with anything basketball, or otherwise.

Pidgeon is also a standout soccer player, and earlier this fall she signed to play at the next level at Mount Union. She says that it is a mental burden lifted knowing where she will be playing next season. She is completely focused on her last season of basketball, and is geared up to help West Branch keep up their successful tradition.

Jillian took the time to talk to YSN’s Anthony Hartwig this week to tell us about her senior season. They talk about last season’s end, this season’s goals, and much more. Warrior fans won’t want to miss this exclusive interview with one of the Warriors senior leaders. Check out the latest player profile “Feed The Pidgeon.”
