AUSTINTOWN BARRELS INTO STATE FINAL

IRONTON OH- Austintown looked forward to another matchup with Boardman after the two teams split their games in the District.  This time around it was all A-Town as they defeated Boardman 11-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

Austintown secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was driven by singles by Mila Hamley, Tori Greathouse, Bella Mattern, Seneca Coates and a fielder’s choice by Zara Burt.

One bright spot for Boardman was a single by Grace Rinaldi in the first inning.

Hamley got the start for Austintown. The righthander allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Emma Davies led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Boardman. She lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four. Addie Fiddler innings out of the bullpen.

Austintown collected 13 hits. Bella Baumgart, Annabel Mikesell, Coates, and Hamley each collected multiple hits. Baumgart led the offense with three hits in three at bats.
