BROGAN GOES THE DISTANCE FOR RANGE

CANFIELD, OH- On a day where pitchers from both teams flexed their muscles on the mound, South Range edged out Lakeview 3-2. Konnor Brogan was the standout starter for South Range, churning out 21 outs.

The scoring kicked off in the second inning when Luke Gehring drew a walk that brought a runner home for South Range. But Lakeview quickly responded in the third, taking a brief lead thanks to a double by Andrew Brown and an RBI single from Nathan Paolucci.

The back-and-forth continued in the bottom of the third when South Range reclaimed the lead. Walks issued to Jake Shumate and Gehring turned into runs, tipping the scale.

Brogan was solid throughout, yielding just two runs (one earned) on six hits across seven innings, striking out nine and walking just one, earning the win. Brown, on the other hand, struggled with control, handing out six walks in just over two innings of work, which ultimately cost him the game.

At the plate, Dylan Smesko, Tyler Wardle, Tyson Tarajack, and Andrew Brian each snagged hits for South Range, with Gehring and Shumate each notching an RBI. Patience was key for South Range as they drew eight walks during the game, with Gehring and Gaven Nagy walking twice each.

For Lakeview, Brown and Paolucci proved to be the tough outs, each bagging two hits, with Brown driving in a run.

Despite the tight scoreline, Lakeview showed sharp defense, turning two double plays to keep the game close.

Looking ahead, South Range is set to host Howland this Thursday, aiming to keep the momentum rolling.
