CREEKSIDE STARTS ON THE RIGHT FOOT

STRUTHERS OH-

It came down to the last play, but the Ohio Longhorns were on the wrong end of a 7-6 defeat to Creekside Fitness on Thursday to open the 16U NABF World Series. The game was tied at six with Creekside batting in the bottom of the seventh when Keith Smith’s sac fly scored one run.

Ohio Longhorns trailed by four runs in the second inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. They tallied five runs in the failed comeback. Nick Herbele, Alex Parker, Dominic King, and Trevor Vojtkofsky came through with RBIs to lead the rally.

Creekside Fitness opened up scoring in the first inning, when Danny Flynn singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Ohio Longhorns evened things up at six in the top of the sixth inning when Vojtkofsky doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Ohio Longhorns notched three runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Herbele and Parker, all driving in runs in the frame.

Creekside scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning came thanks in part to a fielder’s choice by Flynn.

Noah Newman took the loss for Ohio Longhorns. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out four.

Nick Magnifico started the game for Creekside Fitness. The fireballer allowed six hits and four runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three

Ohio Longhorns tallied one home run on the day. Parker had a four bagger in the second inning.

Ohio Longhorns tallied nine hits in the game. Reed Sackett, Vojtkofsky, and Parker all managed multiple hits. Parker, Vojtkofsky, and Sackett each collected two hits to lead.

Devin Gruver went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Creekside in hits.

CREEKSIDE JUMPS IN FRONT OF PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- Peospects came in to Sunday’s 16U Class B Playoff series with momentum after their round 1 win. Creekside was able to stem the tide however and outlast Prospects 3-1 to take 1-0 lead in the semifinal series.

Jack Davis was key in Creekside’s win going 1-2 with his teams only 2 RBI of the day.  Paul Connelly went 1-3 with a run scored.  Payton Zupko also collected a hit going 1-2 with a walk, and a run scored.  Devin Gruver went without being retired and collected a 1-1 day with 2 walks, and a run scored.

Nick Magnifico took the win on the bump lasting 7 innings and giving up just 1 run on 3 hits.  He struck out 5.

Jak Kenney went 1-3 for Prospects and scored their only run of the game.  Andrew Kirilla, and Carter Knupp both went 1-2 on the day.  Caleb Hadley worked a walk.

Kirilla was hit with the loss on the mound for Prospects. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 3.

PROSPECTS SWEEP WHITING TO ADVANCE

STRUTHERS OH- The Prospects would not have to play two games on Saturday as they won game 2 in dramatic fashion to sweep Whiting Roll-Offs out of the Class B playoffs by a final score of 7-5.  Prospects walked the game off with 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th

Jak Kenney made the most out of his one hit on the night going 1-4 with 3 RBI.  Caleb Hadley also went 1-4 with a RBI, and he crossed the plate twice.  Jared Liepheimer went 1-2 with a walk, and a RBI.

Liepheimer also picked up the win on the mound for Prospects. He threw all 10 innings giving up 1 earned run on 7 hits.  He struck out 6.

Whiting lost despite out hitting Prospects 12-7.  Mitch Lang, and Ben Miller both went 2-4. Nick Rogers went 2-5.  Braeden D’Angelo went 2-4 with a walk.

Nathan Craig was charged with the loss. He also pitched all 10 innings giving up 6 earned runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 7.

 

DURA EDGE BLASTS THEIR WAY TO SERIES WIN

STRUTHERS OH- After the Avalanche forced a game 3 earlier in the day, Dura Edge responded with an authoritative 15-4 win to advance in the 16U Class B Playoffs.

Ryan Telesz was a monster at the dish for Dura Edge going 3-5 on the night with 5 RBI.  He also crossed the plate 3 times.  Karter Weitzel went 1-4 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.  Marco Massucci was perfect at the plate going 4-4 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  AJ Verdi went 4-5 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Weitzel was rewarded with the win on the mound. He lasted 6 innings and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits.  2 of the runs were earned.  He struck out a pair.

Lucas Cummings led the Avalanche offense going 1-2 on the day and knocking in a pair of RBI.  Austin Ward also went 1-2 with a RBI, and he scored a run.  Jake Mattocks went 1-3 with a run scored.

The loss was charged to Reese Henderson who gave up 5 runs on 3 hits.  Ward pitched 4 innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 1.

 

AVALANCHE EVEN UP SERIES

STRUTHERS OH- With their backs against the wall in the 16U Class B playoffs, the Avalanche dig deep to force an if necessary game against Dura Edge with a 8-5 win. The Avalanche were down 4-0 after 2 innings, but scored 5 in the 3rd to turn the tides.

Reese Henderson put on a show at the plate for Avalanche going 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  Julian Trott was nearly unstoppable going 3-4 on the day and racking up 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Jake Mattocks gathered multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  DJ Donatelli also had multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs scored.

Keegan Balla pitched a pair of scoreless innings to earn the win on the mound. In his two innings of work he gave up 0 runs on 0 hits. He struck out 3.

Jarrod Malagise was the heavy lifter for Dura Edge’s offense going 1-3 with 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Kris Hrosar went 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Anthony Malagise mirrored those numbers going 1-3 with a RBI, and a run scored.

Brady Adam’s was charged with the loss on the bump for Dura Edge.  He went 5 innings and gave up 5 earned runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 5.

DURA EDGE HOLDS ON TO EARLY LEAD

STRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge got a big early boost on Friday night and was able to hold serve against a furious comeback from Avalanche. Dura Edge scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings, and held on to win 6-5.

Evan Levkulich was the production bearer for Dura Edhe going 1-3 with 2 RBI.  Ryan Telesz also knocked in a run on a 1-2 day. He also crossed the plate.  Kris Hrosar went 1-3 with a RBI.  Nick Leasure went 1-2 with a walk, and 2 runs scored.

Isaac Librich tossed the win for Dura Edge.  He lasted 6 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits.  He struck out 4.

The Avalanche offense was led by Reese Henderson who went 1-3 with a pair of RBI.  Jake Mattoks also went 1-3 and knocked in a run.  Julian Trott went 1-3 with a walk, and 2 runs scored.  Peyton Koss walked and scored a run.

Richie Preston was hit with the loss for Avalanche. He threw 4.2 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 8 and only walked 2.

FALCONS FIRE FREELY AT BALLISTIC AND WIN BIG

STRUTHERS OH- It was nothing but positives for the Astro Falcons in their Monday matchup with Ballistic Baseball. They blasted their way to a dominating 10-1 victory.

Jay Campbell dominated at the dish on his way to 2 RBI. He went 1-2 with a walk, and a run scored.  Bo Fornataro collected a multiple hit day going 2-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Kolten Ruark also wasn’t retired on the day going 2-2 with a run scored, and a walk. He also knocked in a run.  Shawn Kristophel grabbed 2 RBI on the day.

Andrew Hart threw his way to a win on the mound for the Falcons tossing 5 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out 8 while walking only 1.

Brady Harman went 1-2 on the day for Ballistic. He walked and hit in the team’s only RBI.  Colby Lewis went 1-3 and scored the team’s only run.  Mathew Lindsey went 1-2.

Cameron Foy took the loss on the hill. He went 4 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits. He managed to strike out 4.

ASTROS LATE BURST PUTS THEM PAST PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS OH- It took 5 runs late for the Astro Falcons to pull away from Prospects on Monday to a final score of 6-4. The Falcons scored 2 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th to seal the deal.  They trailed 3-1 going into the 5th.

Michael Patellis ended up having a monster day for the Falcons going 3-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.  Mark Pieto also knocked in a pair of runs going 1-1 with a walk.  Andrew Hart put together a 2-3 day with 2 runs scored, and a RBI. Jay Michael-Wrona also collected multiple hits going 2-4 with a run scored.

Shawn Kristophel came in clutch for the win on the hill for the Falcons going 4 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits.  He struck out 1.

Andrew Kirilla got the ball rolling for Prospects. He went 1-3 a run scored, and a RBI.  Jake Hettrick mirrored those results.  Jak Kenney collected a RBI on the day.  Olindo Pezzone gathered multiple hits for the Prospects going 2-3 with a run scored.

Pezzone took the loss on the bump lasting 4.1 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 4.

KNIGHTLINE GETS IT DONE

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline opened up the day at Cene Park on Monday by doubling up on Whiting Roll-Offs in an impressive 6-3 win. The scoring was early and often as neither team scored after the 4th inning.

Tyler Mikulin was very productive for Knightline at the dish going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. Tyler Capan also had a multiple hit day going 2-4.  Aaron Daughty was 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI on the day.  Aiden Thompson was 1-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.

Bronson Ferencak earned the win for Knightline. He lasted 3.1 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits.  He struck out a pair. Knightline pitching struck out 7 total.

Braden Zeigler was a bright spot for Whiting collecting multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  Nick Rogers went 1-1 with a RBI.  He also worked 2 walks. Ben Miller went 1-3 with a RBI.

Dominic Bumblis was tagged with the loss for Whiting. He threw 3 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits.  Whiting pitching didn’t strike out a single hitter.

WHITING BLASTS OUT OF THE GATE TO BEAT CREEKSIDE

STRUTHERS OH- Whiting Roll-Offs set the tone early on Saturday against Creekside Fitness as they scored 7 runs in the first inning on their way to a 12-3 thumping.

Braeden De’Angelo had a very productive day at the plate for Whiting going 1-2 with 3 RBI.  Mitch Lang went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Nate Thomas contributed to the offensive success going 1-3 with a run scored, and a RBI.  Nick Parrotto had a perfect day going 3-3 with 2 runs scored.

Joey Pugh earned himself a win on the hill for Whiting throwing 3 innings of work giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.

Danny Flynn continued his impressive summer going 1-3 on the day for Creekside with a RBI.  Nick Magnifico also contributed a RBI to Creekside’s cause.  Paul Connelly went 1-3 with a run scored.

Alex Nicholson took the loss on the day. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up 6 earned runs. Creekside pitchers combined for 4 strikeouts.
