AVALANCHE SWEEP SATURDAY TWIN BILL

STRUTHERS, Ohio

Sitting at second place in the Hernandez Division, the Avalanche took part in a pair of divisional matchups Saturday morning.

GAME 1

Knightline (5-11) started the scoring in the top of the second when they had a man reach on an error who would later come across to score off an Andrew McRoberts triple to deep right field. McRoberts would later score himself thanks to an RBI single by Aiden Thompson.

Trailing by 2, the Avalanche finally got the bats going in the bottom half of the third. A leadoff walk from Richie Preston saw the first man reach, then a passed ball and a steal of third allowed Austin Ward to single home their first run of the ball game. Julian Trott would then put down a bunt single before both Trott and Ward would be bunted into scoring position.

After Reese Henderson would draw a walk, a basehit by Lucas Cummings saw everyone advance a bag to knot things up at 2 before a 2RBI double from Jake Mattocks saw the Avalanche take their first lead of the game.

The Avalanche would go on to score an additional 5 runs in for the game, securing their first victory of the day, 11-4.

GAME 2

Fresh off their game 1 victory, the Avalanche had to turn around and face the league leading Astro Falcons (14-2). Just as their opponents, Knightline, did in the first leg of the double header, Astro plated one in the first. With two outs, Luca Ricchiuti drew a walk, stole a base, then was brought around to score off an RBI single by Bo Fornataro.

The Avalanche struck back quickly in the bottom frame. Plating three in their first trips to the platehighlighted by an RBI triple by Richie Preston. The scoring continued to come in bunches for the Avalanche, scoring 2 in the 2nd before another 3 in the 4th.

Four different players took the mound in their eventual 8-4 victory, with the win going to Keegan Balla. The Avalanche arms combined for a total of just 2 strikeouts and allowed 8 hits.

With their sweep of the day, the Avalanche (10-6)cement their 2nd place spot in the division with just 3 games left to play.

CREEKSIDE PUSHES LATE TO WIN

STRUTHERS OH- The game between Creekside Fitness and Dura Edge was tied at 3-3 going into the 7th, but 5 runs in the top of the inning was enough to give Creekside the boost to win 8-3.

Jack Davis had a great day for Creekside going 2-4 with a run scored, and 3 RBI.  Andrew Sallipo went 2-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a pair of RBI.  Johnny Leedham got himself a 3-4 day with a run scored.

Payton Zupko was given the win on the mound for Creekside. He gave up no runs and no hits in 1 inning and struck out 2. Nick Magnifico pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits.  He struck out 1.

Mitch Garvin got multiple hits for Dura Edge going 2-4 on the day.  Joseph Bobusci did the same going 2-4.  Blake Jeffries went 1-2 with a run scored.

Kris Hrosar got pegged with the loss gir Dura Edge. He went an inning. He gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit

 

BALLISTIC OUT FIRES EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- The scoring was abundant on Monday in the matchup between Ballistic and Eagle Wear.  Balistic was able to hold on despite a 4 run bottom of the 7th from Eagle Wear.

TJ Border brought the big bat on the day going 2-4 with 3 RBI.  Brady Harman went 1-2 with 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI.  Hunter Duvall went 1-2 with 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

Dominic Elia picked up the win. He gave up 0 runs and 0 hits.  Cameron Foy threw the bulk of the work for Ballistic on the mound. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits. He struck out 1.

Jesse McKee racked up multiple hits for Eagle Wear going 2-4 with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Dennis Fedele went 2-3 with a RBI.  Evan Gilson went 1-2 with 4 RBI.

Avery Maley took the loss for Eagle Wear. He threw 5 innings and gave up 6 earned runs on 6 hits.  He struck out 5.

KNIGHTLINE WINS BIG OVER AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline had all the right moves on Monday in their big 9-3 win over Avalanche. It was a 5 run 1st inning to set the tone for Knightline.

Tyler Mikulin was productive for Knightline’s offense going 1-3 with 2 RBI. Santino Cambotti wasn’t retired the entire night going 2-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored and a RBI.  Seth Kristophel went 1-1 with a walk.

Dru DeShields picked up the win on the mound. He pitched for 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 6.

Hayden Scarnack had a huge day despite the loss for Avalanche. He went 3-3 on the night with 1 RBI. Richie Preston went 1-3 with a run scored.  Lucas Cummings went 1-3 as well.

Nick Cindo was tagged with the loss. He gave up 3 earned runs on 2 hits.

FALCONS ESCAPE SCARE FROM WHITING

STRUTHERS OH- The game may have been closer than planned for the Astro Falcons, but they were still able to dodge Whiting Roll-Offs on Monday 2-1.

Bo Fornataro continued his impressive summer at the plate going 1-3 with a RBI.  Seth Cervello mimicked those numbers going 1-3 with a RBI.  Michael Patellis went 1-3 with a run scored.

Cervello was on point for the Falcons on the bump earning the win. He lasted 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 4 hits.

Whiting only gathered 1 RBI on the day, and it belonged to Braeden De’Angelo.  Grant Melder got multiple hits on the night going 2-3.

Nick Parrotto earned the loss on the mound for Whiting.  He went 2 innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits.

 

AVALANCHE SET THE TONE EARLY

STRUTHERS OH- Avalanche came in to the game Sunday and set the tone in the early innings. They had 7 runs on the board after 3 innings of play. They kept their foot on the gas and beat Creekside 11-6.

Jake Mattocks was a freight train on offense for Avalanche. He went 4-4 on the day with 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Austin Ward went 1-2 with a RBI.  Lucas Cummings went 2-4 with a run scored.

DJ Donatelli picked up the win on the mound. He went 6 innings and gave up 4 runs on 11 hits. He struck out a pair.

Paul Connelly put together a solid day for Creekside. He went 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Danny Flynn also went 2-4 and got himself a RBI.  Jack Davis also had multiple hits going 2-3 with a run scored.

Riley Davison was charged with the loss on the hill for Creekside. He went 6 innings and was not charged with a earned run on 9 hits.  He struck out 5.

FALCONS TAKE CARE OF EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- Astro Falcons was all business on Sunday as they took quick care of Eagle Wear in a 7-3 in 16U Class B action.

Bo Fornataro had an impressive stat line on the day as he went 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Luca Ricchiuti went 1-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI.  Seth Cervello went 1-2 with a run scored and a RBI.

Drew Kaschak earned the complete game win for the Falcons going all 7 innings and giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.  He struck out an eye popping 13 hitters.

Jesse McKee was a big bright spot for Eagle Wear going 2-3 with 2 RBI.  Matt Paparodis went 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI.  Avery Maley went 1-3 with a run scored.

Nathan May got hit with the loss on the hill. He went 6 innings and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits.  He struck out 3.

BALLISTIC BULLETS PAST ATHLETIX

STRUTHERS OH- Ballistic Baseball doubled up Athletix on Saturday in 16U class B action. Their offense was up to the task racking in 10 runs to win 10-5.

Mathew Lindsey was one of the big stars for Ballistic’s offense. He went 3-3 on the day with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI.  TJ Border went 1-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.  Brady Harman had multiple hits going 2-5 with a run scored and a RBI.

Colby Lewis earned the win on the mound for Ballistic.  He threw 6.2 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 3.

The Athletix offense was led by Dustin Smith who was not retired on the day going 2-2 with a RBI.  Johnny Cambert went 1-2 with a walk and 2 RBI. Dylan Casey gathered a RBI on a 1-4 outing.

Luke Rohan was charged with the loss on the hill. He threw 1 inning and gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits.

FALCONS CRANK IT UP AGAINST CREEKSIDE

STRUTHERS OH- The Astro Falcons looked as dominant as ever as they wasted no time dispatching Creekside on Saturday 10-3.

Jay Campbell had himself a day at the plate for the Falcons going 3-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI.  Seth Cervello went 3-4 as well, he knocked in 2 RBI.  Kolton Ruark got 3 hits as well going 3-4 with a run scored, and a RBI. Bo Fornataro went 1-4 with a run scored, and a RBI.

Shawn Kristophel pitched his way to a win going all 7 innings on the bump. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and struck out 6.

Jack Davis and Paul Connelly both went 1-3 with a RBI on the day for Creekside.  Danny Flynn gathered multiple hits going 2-3 with a RBI.  Andrew Sallipo, and Nick Magnifico both went 1-3 with a run scored.

Dylan Barrett was tagged with the loss on the mound.  He went 1.1 innings and gave up 1 run on 1 hit.

PROSOECTS CAGE EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- The 16U Prospects squad kept the ball rolling on Saturday as they routed Eagle Wear. 14-3.  Their big 6 run 3rd inning paved the way for the blowout.

Ethan Prout had a solid day at the dish going 2-2 with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.  Olindo Pezzone went 2-3 on the day with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Caleb Hadley also had 2 hits going 2-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI.

Jak Kenney took the win for the Prospects. He threw 1.2 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit.  He struck out a pair.

Matt Paparodis put together a good day for Eagle Wear. He went 1-3 with a run scored and 1 RBI.  Evan Gilson walked and collected a RBI as well. Joey Gentile walked twice and scored a run.

Paparodis was hit with the loss on the mound. He went 2 innings and gave up 9 runs on 5 hits.  He struck out a pair.
