YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Will Burney has been a focal point of Ursuline’s offense during his entire high school career. The Senior wideout has stepped into a fairly new role this year, being a leader. Burney has combined his on-the-field talent with his leadership abilities off the field as he tries to continue the Irish tradition. Will, aside his teammates, march into a very valuable matchup this week with the Austintown Fitch Falcons, who like Ursuline, are undefeated through their first three weeks of play. In this week’s Player Profile, Will talks about the brotherhood that has been formed at Ursuline, what it’s been like so far during his Senior season, and much more!

SCHNEIDER KEEPS HIS HEAD HIGH

Canfield, OH- Senior outside linebacker and tailback Ryan Schneider joined the show for another player profile at Cocca’s Pizza in Canfield.  Schneider has been through a lot during his senior year after suffering a knee injury during his junior basketball season. Schneider has kept his head up while missing the early part of the season, and has learned some valuable life lessons throughout his recovery.

Schneider is a 2 year letter winner for the Canfield football program, and has played in some big time games as a Cardinal. Schneider plays on both sides of the football as a tailback and an outside linebacker. Schneider hopes to return to the field soon, and will bring some senior leadership to the team when he steps back on the gridiron.

JACKSON LEADS THE WAY

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – When you think of the Chaney Cowboys football team, one might think about all the skill positions and how they use their speed to run the football or how they always seem to find ways to pass the football, but little do many people know, its the guys in the trenches on the offensive line that make their offense as prolific as it is. Jaheim Jackson, our star in this player profile, is one of the “big men up front” that are constantly battling, moving mountains, and helping the Cowboys move the football down the field. The line never gets the credit in the public eye since not many people pay attention to that aspect of the game, but Jaheim doesn’t mind that. He is a man that prides himself on doing his job, doing it well, and helping the team win at all costs.

Jaheim was able to sit down with Steve Leslie this week at Hackett’s Pub on Mahoning Avenue, to discuss the season so far, how the Cowboys are playing in his opinion, what his expectations are for the season, what his plans are for after high school, a rapid-fire questionnaire where he opens up a little bit about what makes him the special player and person that he is, and so much more!

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Senior two way star, Jaquan Johnson sat down with Steve Leslie this week at Hackett’s Pub this week to talk about the Chaney Cowboys season so far. Not only did they discuss the season, they talked about Jaquan’s play as he is a hard hitting safety but also a standout wide receiver. Canfield, OH- Two senior lineman joined the show at Cocca’s Pizza for another Canfield Football Player Profile. Senior offensive tackle AJ Murphy, and senior center Jimmy Scharrer talked about being the leaders up front.

Murphy has some college offers that include: Ashland, Walsh, and Clarion. AJ was apart of the 2021 All Mahoning County Offensive team, along with a 2nd team All-AAC selection last year. Scharrer is both a standout football player and a wrestler. Last year, he was a state qualifier on the mat, along with a 1st Team All-AAC selection.

HEWLETT’S TIME TO SHINE

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Senior superstar, Jason Hewlett, joined YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, in this week’s player profile at Hackett’s Pub. Hewlett has been one of the most sought after recruits in not only the Youngstown area but Ohio as a whole. Hewlett, listed as an “athlete” plays both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and quarterback, but also as a defensive back and linebacker. He is able to show his versatility on the football field in all positions and that was the big draw for the University of Cincinnati to offer him a scholarship. During this very special interview, Hewlett talks about his senior season, coming back from an injury in his junior year to continue dominating on the football field now, his recent commitment to Cincinnati, and so much more!
