GEDDES FANS 16; GARFIELD STORMS THE FLASHES

GARRETTSVILLE, OH-G-Men standout Eric Geddes was on fire on the mound, racking up 16 strikeouts in Garfield’s solid 7-2 win over Champion at James A Garfield High School. Over seven innings, Geddes scattered five hits, surrendered a couple of runs, and issued four walks.

Right off the bat, Garfield took control in the first inning. Alex Carter kicked things off with a two-run single, Brock Pesicek added an RBI single, and an early error allowed another run to cross, putting Garfield up quickly.

Carter wasn’t done yet, driving in another run in the third with yet another sharp single.

On the flip side, Howell was handed the loss, working through six innings for Champion and giving up seven runs, four of which were earned, on eight hits while striking out four and walking two.

Carter was the big bat for Garfield, driving in three runs and going 2-for-3, really anchoring the middle of the order. The base paths were busy with Brandyn Bogucki and Leo Grandizio each swiping multiple bases as part of an aggressive eight-steal game strategy by Garfield.

Hixson put up a fight for Champion, going 2-for-4, with Z Morris and Howell each knocking in a run.

Garfield is set to face Ravenna next on Saturday, looking to keep the momentum rolling.
