YOUNGSTOWN OH- Ursuline defeated Gilmour Academy 7-1 by consistently putting runs on the scoreboard on Tuesday night.

Ursuline pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kyleigh Golden grounded out, scoring one run and Alyssa Sheely’s sac fly scored one run.

Mia Opalick was the winning pitcher for the Irish. Opalick lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out 13. Liza Barbato threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ursuline smacked one home run on the day. Paige Ogden had a long ball in the sixth inning.

The Irish scattered seven hits in the game. Ogden and Layni Bednar each managed multiple hits. Bednar and Ogden each managed two hits to lead.

Ursuline is back in action Wednesday as they host Louisville at YSU Softball Complex.
