QUAKERS HIT THE LIGHTS OUT OF LISBON

Freshmen leadoff hitter Channing Toy went 4-4 at the plate including 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored & 2 Stolen bases. If that wasn’t enough to warrant the game ball, she called a great game as well behind the dish with some huge blocks. Not to mention out running a base runner down the first base line.

Rylie Troy pitched a great game in the circle allowing just 3 hits & a run for the win. She struck out 4 blue devils & defended the mound well with 4 assist from the 1 position.

Mack Zumbar got the Quakes on the board with a two out triple scoring Channing Toy & Rylie Troy in the 1st inning. Lauryn Barton had two hits & scored twice. Rylie Troy doubled & singled. Chase Toy, Sami Gainor, Sophie Maniscalco & Jenna McClish all had hits. Hanna Gaither scored a run.

Stolen bases: Channing Toy 2, Lauryn Barton, Rylie Troy, Jenna McClish, Kylie Skinner & Chase Toy. The Salem Thieves were 7 for 7 on the evening.

First base sometimes doesn’t get the credit deserved, but Mack Zzzzumbar played great with some nice stretches being involved in 7 of the 15 outs in the game. Sophie “Jitterbug” Maniscalco secured two nice catches at 2nd.

Krysten Reckner scored the Lisbon run. This may well be the last time we’ve had the opportunity to compete against senior Justyce Vrable at David Anderson. What a pleasure it was to witness one of the area’s greatest athletes.

Tomorrow Salem will host their second straight devil team as Western Reserve visits Southeast Elementary for a 5pm first pitch.
