MORASKI IS PERFECT AGAINST LISBON

NEW WATERFORD, OH- Cale Moraski dealt a perfect game, and East Palestine broke things wide open in the fifth and never looked back, shutting out Lisbon 10-0 on Tuesday.

It was a pitchers’ duel early until East Palestine broke through in the third. Moraski doubled to center, then Phoenix Marvin and Kyler Bourne followed with RBI knocks to put the Bulldogs up 3-0.

The floodgates opened in the fifth. East Palestine put up a seven-run frame on eight hits. Marvin slapped a two-run single, Kyler Bourne worked a bases-loaded walk, Tommy Beatty and Luke Kinkead each drove in a run with singles, and Moraski capped the rally with another RBI base knock.

Moraski was dominant on the hill, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and zero walks, a perfect game..  Total control from start to finish.

Lisbon’s Brady Carpenter struck out eight over four innings but took the loss after giving up seven earned on seven hits.

Defensively, both teams played clean — no errors from either side. Aiden Myers had nine chances in the field for the Blue Devils, while Phoenix Marvin led East Palestine with 11.

At the plate, Moraski went 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot, while Marvin drove in three and went 2-for-3. East Palestine swiped four bags and racked up 11 total hits.

Lisbon heads home Wednesday to battle EP, and then to Salem on Saturday, looking to bounce back.

EAGLES DOUBLE UP THE WINS OVER LISBON

United made it a clean sweep on Monday, taking both ends of a doubleheader against Lisbon with back-to-back run-rule wins—12-3 in Game 1 and 16-3 in Game 2.

Game 1:

Chloe Angelo came out swinging in the opener, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a solo shot to center in the first, a double in the second, and a single in the fourth. Her bat helped set the tone early and kept Lisbon chasing all game.

United scored three in the first behind Angelo’s homer, a Grace Coffee RBI single, and a Brittany Miller double. They added another in the second with an RBI single from Payten Kekel to go up 4-0.

The game broke open in the fourth when the Golden Eagles hung an eight-spot on the board. Kekel and Coffee both doubled in runs, Miller drove in two more with a base hit, and Angelo capped the inning with her third knock of the day.

Jillian Dietrich got the win in the circle, going five strong innings with seven strikeouts and just two hits allowed. Miller and Angelo each drove in three, while Coffee, Kekel, and Callie Koons also added multi-hit games.

Game 2:

Game two was more of the same. United exploded out of the gate with a six-run first inning fueled by doubles from Josie Wargo, Coffee, Miley Pitts, Miller, and Koons. By the time Lisbon caught their breath, United had already taken control.

The Golden Eagles tacked on six more in the second, including a two-run bomb from Angelo—her second of the day. Koons stayed hot with an RBI single, Lacey drove in two with a double, and Miller added another to her RBI total.

Payten Kekel picked up the win, going the full five innings while allowing just three hits and striking out six. Koons led the offense with a 3-for-4 game, and Miller, Coffee, and Pitts each chipped in with multiple hits.

For Lisbon, Marah Householder went 2-for-3 and drove in a run, while Kamryn Peruchetti added an RBI. United gets back to it Tuesday with a home game against Heartland Christian.

NEWBURN FLAMES 14 DEVILS IN WIN

LISBON, OH- Parker Newburn was lights out on Monday, striking out 14 and carrying United past David Anderson, 5-2.

The right-hander brought the heat all night, scattering six hits and giving up just two runs over six and two-thirds innings before handing the ball off to Kadin Schonauer, who shut the door.

David Anderson actually struck first in the fourth when Myers knocked in a run to give the Blue Devils a short-lived lead. But United responded with a three-run punch in the fifth—Newburn, Cavan Jackson, and Jason Pratt all ripped doubles in the inning to flip the script.

United didn’t let up from there. They racked up 10 hits on the night, with Quentin Taylor leading the way out of the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4. Jackson was clutch in the middle of the order, driving in two and finishing 2-for-3 at the dish.

David Anderson’s Carpenter pitched well despite the loss, going the distance with 10 strikeouts and no walks. He gave up 10 hits and five runs, four of them earned.

Myers and Hinchliffe each collected two hits and an RBI for the Blue Devils, but it wasn’t enough to slow down a United squad riding behind their ace.

These two teams will meet again on Wednesday, this time with United playing host.

 

COLUMBIANA SEES CLEAR SKIES

COLUMBIANA OH-  Caitlynn Pleska put on a show Wednesday, blasting two homers and driving in five as Columbiana rolled past Lisbon 12-1 in five innings.

It didn’t take long for the Clippers to get going—Maryn Hepler opened the bottom of the first with a solo shot to center, and Pleska followed up with a two-run bomb to right. Alivia Bell added an RBI single to cap a four-run first.

Columbiana kept the foot on the gas in the second. Hepler ripped a triple to plate one, a Lisbon miscue brought in another, and Pleska crushed her second homer of the day—this one to dead center—for two more.

The Clippers tacked on three more in the third behind an RBI single from Landry Smith, a groundout from Ella Dota, and a rope down the line from Pleska for her fifth RBI of the night.

Peyton Stoy went the distance in the circle, giving up just four hits and one run while striking out three. Kamryn Peruchetti took the loss for Lisbon after getting tagged for eight runs in just over an inning of work.

Columbiana finished with 13 hits—Hepler, Anna Yonker, and Smith all had multi-hit games. The defense was clean, too, with Bell leading the way with eight fielding chances.

Lisbon managed four hits from four different players, with Lexi Roush driving in the lone run. The Clippers head to Girard on Saturday for their next one.

CLIPPERS FLY HIGH IN EOAC PLAY

COLUMBIANA OH-  Avery Young was dialed in at the plate, going 3-for-4 to help Columbiana knock off Lisbon 8-5 on Wednesday at Firestone Park. Young wasted no time, slapping singles in the first, second, and fourth innings to spark the Clippers’ offense.

Lisbon struck first in the top of the first with an RBI knock, but Columbiana answered right away with a run in the bottom half thanks to a sharp single from Reese Roush.

Then came the second inning, where Columbiana flipped the script with a five-run outburst. Max Conway delivered the big blow—a two-run double on a full count that helped stretch the lead to 6-1.

Roush got the win on the mound, tossing four strong innings with five punchouts and no earned runs. Nick Klindworth came in late to lock down the save.

The Clippers racked up 10 hits on the day. Conway led with two RBIs, while Ethan Lehnerd went 2-for-3. They also swiped four bags to keep the pressure on. Lisbon scattered five hits from five different guys but couldn’t claw their way back. Columbiana is back in action Thursday with a trip to Howland.

CLIPPERS MOVE THROUGH LISBON

LISBON OH- Columbiana took care of business on the road Monday, rolling past Lisbon 12-4 at the Lisbon Baseball/Softball Fields.

The Clippers wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard in the first. A Lisbon miscue opened the door, then Hunter Davanzo tagged and scored on a sac fly before Dan Goehring, Blake Unger, and Zane Strohecker ripped RBI singles to put Columbiana in control early.

Avery Young got the win on the bump, going five innings and giving up just one earned run on five hits. He struck out six but had to work around six free passes. Nick Klindworth came in to shut the door in the sixth, tossing a clean frame with no hits allowed.

Columbiana’s lineup stayed hot all night, racking up 12 hits. Goehring, Max Conway, Unger, and Sam Inboden all had multi-hit games, with Goehring driving in a game-high three runs. The Clippers stayed aggressive on the bases too—Young and Davanzo each swiped a couple, and the team finished with four steals overall.

Defensively, Columbiana turned a clean double play and kept the mistakes to a minimum. Lisbon showed some fight at the plate, drawing nine walks and getting a two-hit night from Ashton Hinchliffe. Devin Kelly knocked in a run, and Logan Sturgeon reached base three times via the walk. Next up for Columbiana is a Tuesday showdown at Wellsville.

CLIPPERS HAVE NO WORRIES

COLUMBIANA OH-  Columbiana came out swinging and never let off the gas in a 25-4 rout of Lisbon on Monday.Caitlynn Pleska was a one-woman wrecking crew, driving in six runs on four hits. She got things started with a two-run single in the first, launched a two-run bomb later that inning, then added an RBI double in the second and a sac fly in the fourth.

The Clippers hung a monster number in the opening frame, torching the scoreboard with 10 runs. Everyone got in on the action—Cameron Perkins, Anna Yonker, Kyla Hogan, Maryn Hepler, Ella Dota—they all drove in runs before Pleska capped it with a no-doubt shot to center.

The second inning? Same story. Eight more runs crossed the plate, with Hepler clearing the bases on her second triple of the night, and Brode, Smith, Pleska, Perkins, and Bell all staying hot at the dish.

Lisbon broke up the shutout with a solo shot in the second, but Columbiana didn’t flinch. Brode and Perkins both left the yard in the third, padding the lead even more.

In the circle, Peyton Stoy got the job done. She gave up four runs on six hits but fanned nine over five innings to lock down the win.

Columbiana mashed 25 hits in the game. Hepler, Perkins, and Pleska all had four-hit nights, while Yonker, Dota, Bell, Smith, and Brode chipped in with multi-hit performances of their own. The Clippers also flashed some leather, turning a double play and playing clean in the field. Columbiana and Lisbon will run it back on Wednesday.

HEARTLAND SNAPS LISBON’S WINNING STREAK

LISBON, OH- The Lisbon Blue Devils couldn’t keep pace with a steady offensive attack from Heartland Christian, falling 14-2 on Friday evening, and providing Lisbon their first loss of the young season.

Lisbon got on the board first with a Marc Moore RBI groundout in the opening inning, but Heartland Christian responded in the second and never looked back. A wild pitch tied things up, then Brennan Murray delivered a two-run single to put the Lions up 3-1.

Heartland kept piling on runs, while Christian Hamilton held Lisbon in check on the mound. The right-hander went the distance, allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out two and walking three over seven innings.

Bryce Esarey started for Lisbon and struck out nine over 3.1 innings, but was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on just one hit. The Blue Devils struggled defensively and couldn’t contain the Lions’ aggressive baserunning and patient approach at the plate.

Ashton Hinchliffe, Aiden Myers, and Brady Carpenter recorded hits for Lisbon, with Moore and Myers each driving in a run. Lisbon showed some spark on the bases with five stolen bags.

For Heartland, Brady DeSantis led the RBI charge with two, while Jack Morgan paced the offense with a 2-for-5 day from the leadoff spot. The Lions drew 10 walks and ran wild, swiping nine bases in the game. Paul Bender, Morgan, and Alex Hamilton each played a key role in pressuring Lisbon’s defense.

The Blue Devils will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host East Canton.

LISBON STAYS HOT; ROCK MALVERN

LISBON, OH — Marc Moore put on a show at the plate Thursday, going 4-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Lisbon Blue Devils (David Anderson) to a 10-4 win over Malvern.

Moore drove in runs in the first, third, and fifth innings, consistently coming through with runners on. He knocked in two with a single in the third, added one in the first, and capped off his night with another RBI single in the fifth.

Malvern opened the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single from Cam Good, but Lisbon responded quickly. In the bottom half, the Blue Devils answered with four runs behind hits from Devin Kelly, Moore, and Ashton Hinchliffe, plus an RBI groundout from Aiden Myers.

Lisbon added one more in the second thanks to a single from Brady Carpenter, then broke things open in the third with a four-run frame powered by Moore, Kelly, and Brady Lively.

Carpenter also got it done on the mound, earning the win after tossing five innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out seven. Mason Jones closed it out with two scoreless innings in relief, striking out two and giving up just one hit.

Offensively, Lisbon racked up 12 hits, led by Moore’s four and Kelly’s 3-for-3 day at the plate. Lively, Carpenter, Hinchliffe, and Myers all contributed with hits and RBIs.

For Malvern, Tyler Cobb and Cam Good each collected two hits while Kaden Dennis led the team with two RBIs. Cobb also stole two bases in the loss. Good took the loss on the mound, allowing nine runs (all earned) over three innings.

Lisbon will be back in action Friday with a road matchup against Heartland Christian.

 

RED KNIGHTS LANCE LISBON

TORONTO, OH — A seven-run first inning set the tone for Toronto on Tuesday as they cruised to a 13-0 win over the Lisbon Blue Devils in a five-inning shutout.

Toronto wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard. Two early defensive miscues by the Blue Devils opened the floodgates before C. Heckathorn ripped a two-run double, C. Barcus followed with an RBI single, and C. McGrath capped the inning with a two-run single to make it 7-0.

The Red Knights kept their foot on the gas, adding three more in the second with RBI hits from L. Wiseman, T. Newbold, and D. Bouscher. In the third, McGrath notched another RBI with a single, and A. Filby was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Toronto’s final run.

Bouscher earned the win on the hill, tossing 3.1 innings of shutout baseball while allowing just one hit, striking out four, and working around seven walks. Despite the free passes, Toronto’s defense held strong, turning a double play to help shut down any scoring threats.

McGrath led Toronto’s 12-hit attack, going 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot. Filby and Wiseman also had multi-hit games as the Red Knights improved to 2-0 on the young season.

For Lisbon, Brady Carpenter and Nick Peruchetti each recorded a hit, while Bryce Esarey showed discipline at the plate with two walks. As a team, the Blue Devils drew seven walks but couldn’t find the timely hit to break through.

Lisbon will look to regroup when they host Southern on Wednesday.
