LADY SPARTANS WIN QUAD MEET
BOARDMAN, OH- The Boardman Lady Spartans Track and Field team won their quad meet against Warren Harding, Chaney and Mooney on Tuesday, April 4th.
The Lady Spartans accumulated 120 points on the evening to the 65 from Warren, 42 from Mooney and 30 from Chaney.
The Lady Spartans opened the meet with a victory by Ashley Boyarko, Lauren Bero, Morgan Auck, and Cara Zawrotuk in the 4×800. In the following event, the 100 hurdles, four Lady Spartans scored; Khadija Hadidan 1st, Sarah Blasco 2nd, and then Sophia Martin and Gabby Vennetti tied for 5th.
In the 1600 Morgan Russo was the 2nd place finisher, while teammate Sadie Ohl finished in 3rd place. The 4×100 relay of Megan Faubel, Reagan Smith, Sarah Blasco and Faith Jackson secured a 3rd place scoring finish for the team. In the 400, Kenzie Riccitelli scored a 1st place finish with her teammate Abbi Mihok scoring a 4th place finish.
The next event was the 300 hurdles where 3 Lady Spartans scored for the team; Sarah Blasco was 1st, Gina Dinapoli was 2nd and Sarah Bero was 4th. In the 800, Gabby Vennetti finished 1st and Lauren Bero finished 2nd. Kenzie Riccitrelli scored in the 200 with her 4th place finish. Sadie Ohl followed up by winning the 3200. The final scoring event on the track was the 3rd place finish from Kenzie Riccitelli, Morgan Auck, Abbi Mihok and Gabby Vennetti in the 4×400.
The Lady Spartans had a terrific night in the field events. In the discus, Angelina Nespeca was 1st, Maddy Smith was 2nd, Sarah Bero was 4th and Evelyn McLane was 5th, taking 4 of the 5 scoring positions. In the pole vault, Alyssa Gilbert was 1st, Zoey Fick-Mills was 2nd, Kennedi Smith was 3rd and Morganne Evans was 4th. In the high jump, Sophia Martin was 1st, Reagan Smith was 2nd, Hayley Ho was 3rd and Alyssa Gilbert was 4th. Three Lady Spartans scored in the shot put, Savanna Watkins was 3rd, Angelina Nespeca was 4th and Liv Hunt was 5th. To round out the scoring, Sophia Martin was 3rd in the long jump.
The Lady Spartans will travel to Medina on Saturday, April 9th for the 33rd annual Tom Fasko Medina Relays. The full team will take on Fitch, Ursuline and Warren JFK at Spartan Stadium on April 12.
