MOHAWK WINS DEBUT ON THE TURF

Mohawk defeated Wilmington, 8-3 on Tuesday night, following the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new turf and improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Warriors wasted no time getting on the board following an RBI single from Vinny Pezzuolo to take a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

Wilmington answered with a run shortly after following an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

The Warriors picked up where they left off and scored another run in the second inning following an RBI double to give themselves a 2-1 lead.

Wilmington answered back in the third inning with a solo home run from Ben Miller to the game at 2-2, but Mohawk responded with an RBI single from Jack Andrews and a double steal that led to another run scored to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead after three innings.

Things unraveled for Wilmington in the fourth inning as a defense error allowed two more runs to score for Mohawk and a SAC fly from Aidan Bowser gave the Warriors a 7-2 lead.

Vinny Pezzuolo added on insurance with an RBI double in the sixth inning to give the Warriors an 8-2 lead with one inning left to play.

Ben Miller drove in another run for Wilmington in the seventh inning off an RBI single to cut the deficit to five, but their luck ran out shortly after.

Vinny Pezzuolo got the win on the mound, only allowing two runs on five hits, and had six strikeouts. He also went 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.

Bobby Fadden finished the game with three RBIs and got the save on the mound for the Warriors.
