NO LUCK NEEDED FOR FITCH

YOUNGSTOWN OH-

The No. 15 ranked Austintown-Fitch Lady Falcons went on the road Tuesday evening to take on the Ursuline Lady Irish in a highly anticipated volleyball matchup. Fitch was coming in off a loss the night before, which was just their second of the year, and Ursuline was looking to pull the massive upset. That would ultimately not be the case as Fitch bounced back off the loss with a near perfect game against the Irish.

Set one went Fitch’s way thanks to an early fifteen-point run led by Jordan Smith that would culminate in a 25-7 win. Ursuline played a lot better in set two, but they were unable to put together any big runs and were only able to go blow for blow so long against this fantastic Fitch squad. Fitch grabbed an eight-point run and held on to that lead throughout the set and took the win 25-15. Ursuline would have to have an amazing finish to the night if they were going to take the third set, but Fitch remained just to fundamentally sound for a comeback to be allowed. Austintown-Fitch took the final set of the night thanks to a dominant performance from Jocelyn Jourdan, Jordan Smith, Avery Rosko, and Afton Roby who played nearly the entire night and finished the third set with a 25-11 victory over the Irish.

Austintown-Fitch picked up their thirteenth win of the season and will go back home to host Canfield on Thursday. Ursuline drops to (9-5) and will look to bounce back on the road on Thursday against Jackson-Milton.
