OUTSTANDING PITCHING KEEPS THINGS CLOSE IN FIRST GAME; UNITED 15U BREAKS THROUGH IN DOUBLE DIP

HANOVERTON, OH- Madison Aegerter was on fire, striking out 11 batters as United battled to a 2-2 tie against Columbiana’s Brady’s Run Veterinary Hospital on Wednesday in Hanoverton. Aegerter was dominant, allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings while walking two.

United got on the board in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Jamie Miller’s single brought in the first run.

A fielding error by United in the fourth inning allowed Columbiana to tie the game at two.

Addie Brode took the mound for Columbiana, pitching six innings and allowing eight hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out seven and walking none.

United amassed eight hits, with Jillian Dietrich and Miller each collecting two hits. Isabella Thompson and Miller each drove in one run. United also turned a double play in the game.

Josie Hepler led Columbiana with two hits in three at-bats from the leadoff position.

United managed to hold off Columbiana for a 7-6 victory in the second game of the doubleheader on Wednesday. Despite seeing their 5-run lead shrink, United held on for the win.

Columbiana started the scoring in the first when Ella Eisenbraun singled, bringing in one run. United tied it up in the bottom of the inning on a passed ball.

United jumped ahead in the second inning when Miley Pitts singled, Scarlett Courtney walked, and Liliana Erb walked, each bringing in a run.

The third inning saw United extend their lead with a two-run double by Madison Aegerter and a walk that scored another run by Caitlyn Roller.

Jillian Dietrich earned the win for United, giving up seven hits and five runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Eisenbraun took the loss for Columbiana, pitching three innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking seven. Aegerter came in for the save.

Aegerter led United with two RBIs, going 1-for-2. Pitts, Aegerter, and Callie Koons each had a hit. United was patient at the plate, drawing seven walks. Dietrich and Jamie Miller each drew two walks, and Dietrich stole four bases. United totaled six stolen bases in the game.

Columbiana racked up nine hits, with Eisenbraun, Morgan Colian, and Josie Hepler each getting two hits. Joslyn Aikens, Eisenbraun, Reagan Boley, Hepler, and Sarah R each drove in a run. Hepler also stole two bases.
