SALEM ON THE WRONG SIDE OF A CLOSE BATTLE

SALEM OH- In a tightly contested pitcher’s duel, Salem faced tough luck against Cardinal on Saturday, falling short in a 2-1 battle.

Salem’s offense fought hard, but struggled to generate runs against Cardinal’s pitching. Colin Riesen drove in Salem’s lone run of the game. Carson Rhodes went 1-for-4 at the plate, while Troy Gibson reached base twice with a hit and two walks, scoring a run. Lance Bailey and Keegan Sommers also contributed hits for Salem.

On the mound, Cyle Burt delivered a solid performance, pitching 6 innings and allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 2 batters.
