SPARTANS CLAW BACK; NDCL HOLDS ON TO WIN

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- It wasn’t for lack of effort, but Boardman came up just short in a comeback attempt Monday evening against Notre Dame Cathedral Latin with an 8-7 final.

Boardman’s effort to come back from down six runs in the third inning came up just short, as the Spartans scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Jac Cordon in the fourth, a groundout by Jack Dascenzo in the fifth, a error in the fifth, and a single by Dascenzo in the seventh.

The Spartans fell behind early in the loss. Notre Dame Cathedral Latin scored on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, followed by a single, and two doubles in the second inning.

Stephen Conti toed the rubber for Boardman. The lefty lasted one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and five runs while striking out three. Seth Cervello and Caleb Satterfield entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings and two innings respectively.

Boardman collected eight hits on the day. Anthony Butto and Griffin Widrig each managed multiple hits for the Spartans to lead the way offensively.
