SPARTANS WALK IT OFF IN 0-TOWN

ORLANDO, FL-In an ending fit for a king, he Boardman Spartans clinched a dramatic 3-2 walk-off victory against the East Ridge Knights at Northeast Regional Park on Monday.

The game remained deadlocked at two runs apiece until the bottom of the ninth inning when Zach Ganser stepped up and delivered a clutch 2 out, 2RBI single, driving in the winning run and sending the Spartans into pandemonium.

Pitching prowess was evident on both sides, with the Spartans’ hurlers notching six strikeouts while the Knights’ pitchers retired nine batters.

Adrian Pagan got the Knights on the board early with a timely single in the first inning. However, the Spartans responded in the bottom of the seventh, fueled by Ganser’s crucial double that knotted the score at two runs apiece.

Tyler Kirlik emerged as the hero for the Spartans, earning the win on the mound with a stellar performance. The right-handed pitcher held the Knights to just one hit over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three without issuing a single walk. On the flip side, Barak Boston suffered the loss for the Knights, surrendering three runs (none earned) on two hits over two and one-third innings of relief.

Landon Whippo started the game on the mound for the Spartans, delivering a solid performance with only one earned run allowed over six and one-third innings of work. Colin Raleigh took the mound for the Knights, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out five batters.

Ganser emerged as the offensive standout for the Spartans, driving in three crucial runs and going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Defensively, the Spartans executed flawlessly, turning one double play and committing zero errors. Charlie Young showcased defensive excellence with eight chances in the field.

Looking ahead, Boardman gears up for a matchup against Immaculata on Tuesday at 12:30, aiming to carry the momentum from their thrilling victory into the next contest.
