JAYS KEEP THE PARTY GOING
NORTH JACKSON OH- Last season the Blue Jays only had two wins, but in 20222, they have rebounded winning their first three games of the season as coach Nathan Brode and the Jackson Milton Blue Jays hosted the LaBrae Vikings Friday night.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter but the blue jays would be on the move. Star quarterback Alex Schiavi threw a screen pass making it 7-0. Later on a little trickery as Schiavi pitched it behind his back to Owen McDevitt who found Aidan Stanke wide open for a touchdown making it 14-0 going into the half.
Milton would just keep on running up the score in the second half as Joey Zayas took it in for a 15-yard touchdown, now up 21-0. Schiavi’s final two touchdowns was him doing an old style drop back on the goaline, finding Stanke in the back of the endzone and him taking it himself making the final 34-0. The Vikings of LaBrae had four chances in the Redzone in the first half, but were stopped by Cayden Mitchell and the talented defense of Jackson Milton.
LaBrae (0-3) has now lost their first three games since 2012 and will host Mahoning Valley Grey Tier conference Garretsville Garfield (2-1) who lost by one point to Warren JFK (22-21) next week. Jackson Milton (3-0) will travel to Berlin Center Ohio to take on a Mahoning Valley Scarlet Division rival Western Reserve (1-2) 7pm Friday.
After the game, Ian O’Brien caught up with head coach Nathan Brode on the big win and what to expect for next week’s game.
