LISBON GETS POSITIVE START TO CONFERENCE PLAY

EAST PALESTINE, OH- In EOAC play Friday night, the Lisbon Blue Devils traveled to East Palestine to take on the Bulldogs. Lisbon controlled the majority of the game, but in the second half, East Palestine looked to make a comeback by capitalizing on some mistakes made by Lisbon. Ultimately, the Bulldogs would not be able to find a way back as the Blue Devils came away with a 49-39 victory.

Lisbon’s all around team play and scoring got the better of the Bulldogs overall. The Blue Devils were able to keep the Bulldogs to 10 points or under in each quarter. That eventually led to more scoring opportunities for Lisbon. Scoring 13 and 14 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters respectively helped the Blue Devils extend their distance from a hungry Bulldogs team.

For the Blue Devils, Logan Stauffer led the way with 19 points and 7 Rebounds. Luke Kraft finished with 10 points, and Trevor Siefke added 10 points and 5 assists.

For the Bulldogs, Weston Jones led the way with 17 points. Payton Elliot added 8 points, and Ryan Rosen contributed 6 on the night.

Looking ahead, Lisbon will be back home Tuesday night to host Columbiana. For East Palestine, the Bulldogs will also be back in action Tuesday night as they will travel to Valley Christian.

EAGLES OFFENSE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS

CORTLAND OH-

CORTLAND, Ohio

Bulldozing their way to a 17-0 victory over the Lakeview Bulldogs (7-10) yesterday at home, the Hubbard Lady Eagles (10-8) packed their stuff and headed north for a rematch with the Dogs.

Looking for redemption, Lakeview blanked the Eagles in their first trips to the plate, then proceeded to plate 2 in the bottom half of the inning. A sacrifice bunt by Raegan Schick along with a double off the bat of Maggie Pavlanksywere responsible for the Bulldogs quick start.

Stunned the team they handled easily just yesterday was now in the lead, Hubbard needed to strike back quickly. With one away in the inning Sydney Bowser would do just that, homering over the center field wall for her third homerun in 4 games.

A scoreless bottom second and top third would bring the Bulldogs back to the dish up 2-1. With a pair of singles to start the inning, Lakeview had runner on the corners with one away. Schick would lay down her second bunt of the game and score a run thanks to a fielder’s choice.

Pavlansky would then single for the Bulldogs tobring across their second run of the inning but Schick would be thrown out at second for the second out of the inning. With two away and two already in, Gianna Caruso headed to the plate looking to keep the inning going. Caruso would then put an exclamation mark on the Lakeview third when she homered to left field and putting the Bulldogs out in front 6-1.

Maybe the Lady Eagles needed some adversity before getting the bats going, because once Caruso would go yard, Hubbard would score 14 unanswered runs to bury the Bulldogs. The Eagles comeback was highlighted by RBI doubles from Haley Croyle and Grace Narkum, as well as 2 home runs by Sydney Bowser, bringing her total to 3 for the day. Lakeview’s Sammy Aey would also homer in the bottom of the seventh but still left the Bulldogs way short of the victory, 15-7.
