CRESTVIEW TURNS UP THE HEAT ON THE DEVILS

COLUMBIANA OH- The Rebels didn’t miss a beat extending their three match winning streak to four on Tuesday with a sweep of Campbell (25-7 25-3 25-12).

Grace Auer led the Rebels with a double double with 11 kills, and 10 assists. Lucy Montgomery had 6 kills, and 10 assists. Shelby Rambo finished with 4 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks, and a dig.

The Rebels will try to keep winning as they host Newton Falls on Thursday. Campbell will look for their first win on Thursday as they travel to Champion.

REBELS RESPOND WITH BLOWOUT OF CAMPBELL

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview jumped out to a 38-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they defeated the Campbell Red Devils tonight at Rebel Stadium 59-0.
On a night in which the Crestview turf was officially christened, the Rebels offense put together 503 yards of total offense and they held Campbell to just 35 yards of total offense.
Ethan Powell scored two touchdowns and ran for 126 yards on just 10 carries to pace the Rebels offense as Crestview even their record to 1-1 on the campaign.

GREAT SCOTT! CAMPBELL MEMORIAL HAS THEIR MAN!

CAMPBELL, OH- The Campbell City School District Board of Education hired Bernard Scott as the new Girls Basketball Coach as well as the boys and girls Intramurals coach effective for the 2020-2021 school year.

Coach Scott was a part of the VASJ (Cleveland) State Championship team while in high school and was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. He went on to play at the University of Toledo. Coach Scott has 19 years of Division I College Basketball experience. Those stops included are the University of Detroit Mercy, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Arizona, Dayton, and Toledo. He enjoys teaching basketball and helping individuals reach their full
potential.

Coach Scott said, “I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead the Campbell Memorial girls varsity program! Campbell is a place with a lot of potential. It has nice facilities and the community is very supportive. I’m looking forward to working with the team and getting started. I would like to thank Superintendent Matthew Bowen, principal Bradley Yeager and athletic director Stacie Cepin for giving me this opportunity!”

Scott has been married for 16 years and has two daughters that also play basketball.

CRESTVIEW SHOWS URGENCY IN VICTORY OVER CAMPBELL

CAMPBELL, OH-  The Rebels (1-5) came in coming off a loss to Brookfield 56-21. Looking to get their second win of the season. Campbell Memorial (3-3) was ready to play Crestview and get their fourth win on the season after losing to JFK 20-12.

The first quarter was all highlights for the Rebels. Crestview would score within two minutes of the game with a 48 yard run by Ethan Powell. Later on defense, they would block Campbell’s punt and turn that into a safety. The second drive, the Rebels would have Powell once again pound one in from the 8-yard line to bring it to 16-0. Towards the end of the first Rebel’s kicker, Brandon Yanssens would kick a field goal to put them up 19-0 to end the first quarter. The second quarter would go to the Red Devils as they won the quarter 13-7. As deep touchdown pass by quarterback Christian Stores to wide receiver Christian James that would give the Red Devils momentum. Later throughout the quarter, Crestview’s Brandon Yanssens would punch one in from the one-yard line to put the Rebels up 26-7. The Devils would answer back as wide receiver Malachi Bannarn would jump to the sky to reel in a touchdown pass from Stores. To bring the game and ending the half at 26-13.

The second half was not high flying as the 1st. At the start of the 3rd quarter would cut through the Red Devil’s defense running for a 60-yard touchdown. A couple drives later, Cusick would throw his second pick of the game as Campbell’s Malachi Bannarn would pick it off in the red zone. After the 3rd would end, Crestview’s Roclen Bettura scores a 21-yard rushing touchdown to put the Rebels up and win the game 40-13.

Crestview wins tonight to bring their record to 2-5 as Campbell Memorial loses and drops to 3-4.

WELCH CONTINUES TO SCORCH THE NET, BULLDOGS BLAST CAMPBELL

EAST PALESTINE, OH- The Bulldogs kept their winning ways going on Thursday in non-conference action as they took down Campbell Memorial 8-2.  East Palestine has been an offensive juggernaut to begin the season with Josh Welch leading the way with 10 goals.  Welch had 4 goals just against Memorial and also added a helper to aid the Brown and White in victory.

Also contributing in the effort was Weston Jones with 3 goals, Blaze Egan with a goal and an assist, Brandon Turcola with a pair of assists, Caden Rummel with an assist, and Matt Garcia had 10 saves in net for EP.

Campbell was led by Kevin Cisneros and Cameron Robinson who each had a goal apiece.

East Palestine remains perfect at 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in the EOAC and will head back to conference play Monday at home against Wellsville.

BERGER ACES MEMORIAL EXAM, LADY BULLDOGS START SEASON WITH VICTORY

EAST PALESTINE, OH- The East Palestine Volleyball Team has had a year to think about the 2018 season, and how they are going to re-establish themselves in the EOAC.  On Monday night, the Lady Dogs started things out their way in the 2019 campaign, serving up a 3-0 defeat to Campbell Memorial (25-9, 25-13, 25-11).  The victory gives the Bulldogs a 1-0 record on the year.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Junior- Emily Berger.  Berger’s 18 points, 10 aces, 5 digs, and 3 kills did the most damage to the Lady Devil defense, which included a 13 serve streak in the third set to put the match out of reach.  For her efforts, Berger was awarded the Gorby’s Player of the Game.

Also contributing for the Lady Dogs were Olivia Figley (5 Kills,) and Morgan Cheurco who had 14 assists and 10 digs.

East Palestine will host United on Tuesday to kick-off their EOAC schedule.

CAMPBELL, OH- Crestview had the bats going with 27 hits and 17 runs against AAC rival, Campbell Memorial.

The Rebels sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning scoring 5 runs. For the Rebels Kaedyn Sutton had 4 hits including a bomb over the fence to deep center, she also added 4 RBI’s. Skyler Mattern added 4 hits & 4 RBI, Karsyn Moore had 4 hits and 2 RBI’s. Haley Eskra and Madi Wick each added 3 hits apiece.

Haley Eskra picked up her second win of the season striking out 5 and giving up 2 hits in 5 innings. For Campbell Flores had a hit. Crestview improves to 13-2 on the season and 6-0 in the AAC. Crestview will host Edgewood on Saturday.

REBS KEEP ROLLING, ICE THE RED DEVILS

COLUMBIANA, OH- Campbell scored a run in the top of the first inning, but that would be all the offense they would muster on the day. Crestview would counter-punch by sending 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning, accounting for 8 runs.

Skyler Mattern had 2 singles, a double and 2 RBI. Haley Eskra had 3 singles and 1 RBI. Baylie Bettura, Shianna Mathes and Olivia Strank each had 2 hits.

For Campbell Rodriguez, Flores and Koullas each had a hit. Kayla Deily picked up the win for the Rebels striking out 6, giving up 3 hits & 2 walks. This is Deily’s first win of the season.

Crestview will host Beaver Local tomorrow, Crestview improves to 11-2 on the season.
