ONE LAST TIME WITH WYME

BOARDMAN OH- As one of the most consistent and experienced players on the Boardman roster, senior Maddie Wymer has been a cornerstone of the team for four seasons. With her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the sport, Wymer has left an indelible mark on Boardman Softball.

Wymer’s coachability sets her apart as the perfect athlete to coach. She listens to instruction, absorbs feedback, and consistently steps up to the plate whenever her team needs her. Her willingness to learn and adapt has made her a valuable asset both on and off the field.

This year, however, hasn’t gone quite as Maddie had envisioned. A three-year catcher, Wymer had to make the difficult decision to put away the catcher’s gear for the season to keep herself safe. Additionally, she’s made the bittersweet choice to hang up her cleats after her illustrious career at Boardman comes to an end.

Despite these challenges, Wymer has maintained her strength and leadership, refusing to let setbacks define her final season. Instead, she has focused on making the most of every opportunity and ensuring that her last season as a Spartan is her best yet.

Wymer’s stats this season speak to her impact on the field. With a batting average of .382, 2 home runs, and 18 RBIs, she consistently delivers at the plate, earning a .479 on-base percentage. But her contributions go beyond the box score; Wymer’s leadership and guidance have been invaluable to the team’s success.

As Maddie prepares to leave her mark on Boardman Softball and move on to new endeavors, she is making sure to savor every moment of her final season. Her leadership will continue to guide the Spartans to success long after she graduates, leaving a legacy of determination, resilience, and excellence for future generations of Boardman Softball players to follow.
