LISBON FINDS A WAY IN OVERTIME

Columbiana,OH- Both of tonight’s teams were coming off loses looking to bounce back into the winning column. It took overtime to find our winner but after clutch free throws by Blayne Brownfield and Ryan McCullough, Lisbon came away with the overtime victory, 62-51. Brownfield led all scorers with 29 points.

Lisbon maintained the lead for both quarters going into halftime with a 22-17 lead. McCullough led the Blue Devils with 8 points with Brownfield assisting not far behind with 7 points. For Columbiana, Nick Million got started late in the second quarter but went into the locker room with 8 points of his own.
It took 3 more quarters to decide a winner but Brownfield and McCullough led the Blue Devils to victory in overtime. Brownfield ended the night with 29 points with McCullough contributing 15. Million would end the night with 20 points as he helped his team rally to overtime. Lisbon will face Southern Local on Tuesday at home while Columbiana will face Valley Christian at home tomorrow.

BLUE JAYS SPEED PAST COLUMBIANA

NORTH JACKSON OH- The Columbiana Lady Clippers dug a 1st quarter hole as the Jackson-Milton Blue Jays overpowered the visiting Clippers in a 51-38 victory.

Coulmbiana fell behind 18-9 in the opening frame as the two teams battled about even up the rest of the way.

Chelsea Williams dropped in 16 points to pace the Lady Blue Jays and her teammates Kelsie Taylor and Kylie Wilson each added 10 points.

For the Lady Clippers, Grace Witmer scored 15 points. The win pushes Jackson-Milton to 12-7 on the year as Columbiana falls to 11-6.

ROBISON REACHES 1,000 IN THRILLING BLUE JAYS WIN

The Bluejays Mason Robison put his name in the record books as he went over the 1000 point mark in a 54-51 win over the visiting Columbiana Clippers in Tuesday night basketball.

Robison hit the mile-stone in the 3rd quarter as he scored 15 points in the contest. The Clippers held a 20-10 advantage in the 2nd frame but Jackson Milton battled back to go into the half down by 1 22-21.

For Culumbiana Dalton Whitehair scored 18 points. Next on the slate for the Clippers is a home contest against Lisbon this Friday.

BULLDOGS BOUNCE BACK AGAINST COLUMBIANA

COLUMBIANA OH- A big 4th quarter comeback helped the East Palestine Lady Bulldogs to take down theColumbiana Lady Clippers 44-43 in a key EOAC battle Monday night.

The 17-6 4th quarter rally was topped off with the Bulldogs Patience Champney dropping her big basket in with just over 5 seconds left in the game.

East Palestine’s Payton Sherry was the leading scorer for her team with  13 points followed by  Champney’s 12 point effort.

The Clippers  Grace Witmer scored a game high 19 points and her teammate Addie Zohnd added 10 points. added .

East Palestine goes to 5-2 for the year and co-leads   the EOAC with a 4-2 record. The Clippers fall to 10-6 and 9-3 in league play.

Both teams return to the hardwoods on Wednesday with East Palestine travels to Leetonia and Columbiana goes to Jackson-Milton.

COLUMBIANA BOUNCES BULLDOGS

COLUMBIANA- The Clippers looked to rebound off a tough loss Saturday to the Leetonia Bears. The Clips wasted no time as they jumped out to a early 14-7 lead in the first.
The second quarter wasn’t much different for the clippers.

As the bulldogs made a little threat to start off the quarter, but the Clippers led by Nick Million darted off to a 10-0 run late in the second.
In the second half the Clippers ran away with the ballgame. As Columbiana got the inside outside game flowing.

With Seth Spooner going for 12 of his 16 points in the quarter.
Leading scorers for the game were                   Nick Million- 21

Weston Jones- 11
Tyler Bistarkey- 10

CLIPPERS KEEP FLYING HIGH

WELLSVILLE OH- Grace Witmer dropped in 6 3-pointers on her way to scoring 34 points as the Columbiana Clippers knocked out the Wellsville Tigers 79-25 in Thursday night action.

The Clippers had 9 3-pointers as they moved to 10-5 on the year and 9-2 in the EOAC. Also for Columbiana was Cassie Spaite dropping in 17 points and   Tori Long netting 12 points.

For the Tigers Leah Vinton scored 12 points.

Columbiana returns to action Monday night as they host East Palestine.

WITMER’S TRIPLE DOUBLE LIFTS CLIPPERS

LISBON OH- Columbiana’s Grace Witmer  had a huge night as the Clippers took down the Lisbon Blue Devils 70-40. Whtmer scored 20 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out 13 assists and had 5 steals to lead the Clippers who improved to 8-5 for the year and 6-2 in EOAC league play.

Teammates Cassie Spaite had 16 points and Tori Long scored 11 points.

For the Blue Devils who dropped to 3-9 and 1-6 in the EOAC, Morgan Lively scored 17 points and Parker Henthorne chipped in 12 points.

Next up  Columbiana will travel to Wellsville and Lisbon will welcome in Valley Christian as both contests are on Thursday night.

UNITED ESCAPES FOR A WIN OVER CLIPPERS

COLUMBIANA OH- The United Eagles traveled to Columbiana facing the Clippers. The Eagles and Clippers kept the game close all night until the eagles pulled away after some clutch free throws. Eagles win 49-47.

First and second quarter ended in ties for both teams. United and Columbiana head into the locker room  Brutus Ogilvie ended the second quarter with 10 points while Dalton Whitehair had 7 for the Clippers.
Nate Miller of United took over in the second half reaching double digits in rebounds and with 19 points. United wins 49-47. Ogilvie ended the night with 16 for the Eagles. For the Clippers Dalton Whitehair finished the night with 13.

COLUMBIANA CAPTURES WIN OVER INDIANS

The Lady Clippers of Columbiana took a big 26 point advantage into the 3rd quarter to take down the Southern Local Indians 53-30 in Thursday night’s  action. The Lady Clippers put up scores of 20 and 16 points in the 1st two periods while limiting the Indians to just 10 points.

Columbiana’s Grace Witmer led all scorers with 24 points hitting on 4 3 pointers and her teammate Tori Long scored 15 points.

For Southern Local, Ashley Shroader canned 13 points while pulling down 17 rebounds.

SPRINGFIELD SNEAKS AWAY FROM CLIPPERS

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield was coming in to Wednesday night’s non conference match up against Columbiana looking for their third straight win. It wasn’t easy, but Springfield battles their way to a 47-43 win.

Madison Lesnak paced the Tigers with an impressive 17 points. Jacey Mullen wasn’t too far behind contributing 16 points to the cause.
