BEHIND PAZEL’S EYES

Lowellville, OH – YSN had the pleasure of sitting down with Josh Pazel, Lowellville’s stellar wide receiver, at Bedford Trails to discuss his journey in football and beyond. Starting his football career in third grade with flag football and transitioning to tackle football by fifth grade, Pazel has become a cornerstone of the Lowellville Rockets football team.

In the interview, Pazel explained his early inspiration came from watching YouTube videos, igniting a passion for the sport. Playing for a smaller school like Lowellville, Pazel values the close-knit community feeling, stating, “You just want to go out and show everyone all your skills.”

Known for forming one-half of a formidable receiving duo with Bruce, Pazel elaborated on the dynamic between them: “The only way you can stop either of us is through a double team. You can’t double team both of us.” Their synergy has significantly contributed to the Rockets’ strong passing game this season, bolstered by sophomore quarterback Ricky Woolwich. “I even worked with him last year, preparing for this year, and everything’s just really clicking,” Pazel remarked. Beyond football, Pazel is an all-around athlete, participating in basketball and track. While he loves basketball the most, he acknowledges the success he’s had in track. Commenting on his basketball skills, particularly his jumping abilities, Pazel humorously noted his varied success with dunks last season but affirmed, “I can get up there.”

Pazel credits his success and development to coaches like Coach Career and, of course, his parents, who have been his steadfast supporters. Drawing inspiration from NFL greats like Odell Beckham Jr. and Julio Jones, Pazel strives to emulate their explosive play styles. As for his pre-game rituals, Pazel prefers to mentally lock in, listening to music and preparing himself visually. Despite being a junior, Pazel already has clear aspirations for his future. He plans on pursuing a career in photography, an art form he finds “the coolest thing ever” for its ability to showcase creativity.

WESTMINSTER INKS SIMULCASTING PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUR SPORTS NETWORK

NEW WILMINGTON, PA–Westminster College and the Department of Athletics announced Thursday a simulcasting partnership with Your Sports Network (YSN) that will deliver greater access to the Titans’ sports portfolio throughout the upcoming year.
“This sports-focused joint venture with YSN allows us to multistream all of our live video content and programming to reach and engage today’s Titan fans everywhere,” said Westminster Director of Athletics Jason Lener. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with DJ (Yokley) on the first of many opportunities between his YSN team and the Westminster brand to help leverage the power of live video in engaging prospective student-athletes while providing additional access to expand the experiences of our own student-athletes.”
The athletic department, along with its colleagues from the Westminster College Network (WCN), an on-campus programming partner that has been the home of Titan sports for decades, combined to produce over 100 athletic-related broadcasts last year with more than 28,000 unique online plays. The collaborative effort with YSN will maximize the exposure of Westminster athletics, making programming available to a wider audience while strengthening the College’s ability to build greater direct relationships with its supporters. Partnering with YSN provides valuable visibility and recognition for the great work Westminster’s broadcasting students are doing as well.
“DJ’s passion, professionalism and creativity are infectious. Having him and the YSN team available as a resource and outlet for our broadcast students provides concrete examples of the things we illustrate in the classroom and lab. The expanded exposure across Ohio will be a huge benefit to our students, athletes and programs. It provides them with professional networking, experience and an open stage to showcase the spectacular broadcasting opportunities and the incredible Division III athletics environment available here at Westminster,” said Gary Swanson, Technical Operations Manager and Media Systems Engineer with WWNW FM and WCN.
YSN, founded in 2017, is owned and operated by DJ Yokley, a Westminster graduate who earned a degree in broadcast communications in 2007. YSNlive.com featured 12.4 million views in 2023 alone and serves over 70 communities in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Westminster is the first college to feature a multitude of sports across the YSN platform.
“It’s such an honor to be able to serve the community that helped forge me as an individual, as well as a businessman and broadcaster. We’re honored to showcase the Westminster Way to our audience on full display,” said Yokley.
