SALEM OH- The Lady Quakers soccer team opened their home campaign with a big match against the #8 team in the state in Division 3, the South Range Raiders.
Salem found the back of the net two times in the first half. Both goals were scored by Rylee Hutton and assisted by Abby Perry. The Lady Quakers almost netted a third before the break, but the ball crossed the line one second too late. In the second half, the Lady Quakers found a third goal, again from Rylee Hutton.
Salem was 15 seconds away from a clean sheet when South Range found the back of net. Gabby Lamparty scored that goal for the Raiders, after missing most of the game with an injury.
Sam Moore had three saves in goal. Krista Barley, Bri Cibula, and Annika Murray put in phenomenal defensive efforts. Abbie Davidson, Hanna Gaither, and Milkaylynn Murphy played a fantastic game through the middle of the pitch. Chloe Wilhelm and Clara Double put in solid efforts in the wide spaces. Bianca Gancarz played almost everywhere on the field, and she excelled anywhere she went.
Lauryn Barton and Ilani Jones-Wallace contributed significant minutes and great efforts off of the bench.
The Lady Quakers are now 5-0-0 on the season. They return to action tomorrow night when they host league foe Marlington at 7 pm. South Range is now 3-2 and have a quick turnaround hosting Lakeview on Wednesday.
