MARLINGTON GETS QUAKED!

SALEM, OH – The Salem Quakers welcomed the Marlington Dukes into The Cab tonight on a very special senior night as the senior cheerleaders and two seniors basketball players, Hunter Griffith and Landon Cooper, were honored before the game! Salem came into tonight’s game in first place of the EBC standings at 5-1.

The first half saw the Dukes play physical defense and battle with the Quakers for much of the half, the Quakers kept fighting and led at the intermission, 30-26. Brock Young led the Quakers scorers at the half with 10 points. Landon Cooper added in 6 points and 6 rebounds. For Marlington, Rome Sims led the Dukes with 11 points and Tommy Hippely had 6 rebounds.

The second half saw much of the same as the Quakes continued to assert themselves on the defensive end but picked up some more intensity as they came out and led after three quarters. The fourth quarter saw Marlington heat up from three but it was a little too late as Salem was about to do just enough to get a big EBC win and solidify themselves atop the standings at 6-1, 69-66.

Salem was paced on the night by junior, Brock Young with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Hunter Griffith chipped in with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Jon Null added 13 points as well.

The Marlington Dukes were led by Casey Miller with 23 points and Rome Sims added 17 points and 5 rebounds.

MCDONALD OFFENSE ERUPTS AGAINST QUAKERS

SALEM OH- You wouldn’t know that McDonald had only been playing for a week watching their offense on Tuesday night in Salem. They could not be stopped as they sped by Salem 84-59.

Miles Culp dazzled on the night Scoring 33 points to lead the Blue Devils. Jake Portolese also had a strong performance notching 19 points to the McDonald offense. Anthony Ragazzine was also in double figures with 10.

Salem was paced by Jon Null who gathered 14 points. Drew Weir was right behind him scoring 13 for the Quakers.

BULLDOGS WIN QUAKER HOLIDAY CLASSIC

SALEM OH- Poland Salem both played their second game in as many days on Wednesday as they met in the Quaker Holiday Classic Championship game. Defense was the name of the game as both of the teams struggled to score. Poland was able to come away with the win 56-45.

Christian Colosimo led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Andrew Centafonti and Ross Dedo both added 8 points to help the Bulldogs win.

Jon Null led the charge for the Quakers. He got in double figures with 14. Drew Weir was also in double figures scoring 12.

Poland will travel to Canfield for round 2 of the battle of 224 on Tuesday. Salem will host McDonald on Tuesday.

 

 

QUAKERS OPEN EBC PLAY WITH WIN OVER MINERVA

SALEM OH- The Salem Boys opened up conference play on Friday night hosting Minerva. The Quakers used a big third quarter to dispatch the Lions 56-40.  Salem outscored Minerva 17-10 in that third quarter, and then added 15 more points to finish off the Lions in the fourth.

The Quakers has a balanced offense with two players in double figures. Jon Null led Salem with 15 points. Drew Weir also had a solid night picking up 14 points.

Brayden Costea led the Lions with 12 points. Kale Mayle was also in double figures with 10.

Salem will move on to travel to Alliance on Friday.
