LAKEVIEW SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH NATE SCHICK

CORTLAND, OH- The foundation is strong for Lakeview in 2020, as the Lady Bulldogs will line up with a young, but talented lineup this season.  It’s been a long time coming for Lakeview to try to return to the top of the mountain, but second-year coach, Nate Schick feels he has the pieces to compete in an uber-competitive conference.

We sat down to talk to Coach Schick to discuss the situation at hand with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as what his favorite parts of coaching in today’s culture.

All that and more on the Lakeview Softball Coach’s Corner with Nate Schick!

BULLDOGS BOUNCE EAGLES

CORTLAND, OH-  Brendan Kilpatrick and the Lakeview Bulldogs (11-12) returned the favor in a first-round matchup against the Hubbard Eagles (8-15). Kilpatrick finished with 18 points in a 53-44 victory Tuesday in Lakeview, ending the visiting Eagles two-game winning streak, and extending their own to three.

The Bulldogs had a 12-point lead with six and a half minutes left in the rematch from three weeks ago that saw Hubbard grab their third and final win in conference. With 2:43 remaining in the game, Hubbard senior Chanze Kelly scored back to back baskets to cut the Bulldog lead to just 5. After a Lakeview free-throw and a Hubbard layup from senior Cameron Resatar, the margin was down to just 4 when Lakeview sophomore Nate Fox was called for a double dribble violation to give the Eagles the ball back with just 1:38 remaining. However, Hubbard would squander the opportunity by turning the ball back over just 8 seconds later. After a Resatar three with only 35.6 remaining, Lakeview would head to the free-throw line, make one and miss one to put the Bulldogs ahead by 4. The proceeding possession from the Eagles saw the ball in the hands of 1000 point scorer Resatar, who took a contested three that bounced off the back iron, spelling the end for the Eagles. With his 15 points on the night, Resatar finishes just 27 points shy of becoming Hubbard’s all-time leading scorer.

SURVIVE AND ADVANCE
