CHAMPION WINS SLUGFEST OVER LANCERS

LEAVITTSBURG OH-

Emma Gumont collected four hits in four at bats, as Champion defeated Gilmour Academy 11-9 on Tuesday. Gumont singled in the second, doubled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Champion collected 15 hits and Gilmour Academy eight in the high-scoring affair

Gilmour Academy got things started in the second inning when they scored one run on a stolen base.

The Golden Flashes took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Gumont doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Champion tallied seven runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower was led by Isabella Meyer, Gumont, Tayler Fuller, Abigail Meadors, and Holley Moore, all knocking in runs.

Gumont earned the win for Champion. The righty lasted five innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out five.

Megan Mlinaric took the loss for Gilmour Academy. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing 15 hits and 11 runs while striking out two and walking one.

Cassidy Shaffer started the game for Champion. Shaffer lasted two innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out two and walking zero

The Golden Flashes had 15 hits in the game. Gumont, Meadors, Shaffer, and Moore all managed multiple hits. Gumont led with four hits in four at bats.

Allison Schuh went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Gilmour Academy in hits.

MOONEY CANT HOLD UP AGAINST LANCERS

Cardinal Mooney couldn’t keep up with Gilmore Academy and fell 13-2 on Thursday.

In the first inning, the Cardinals got their offense started when Alaina Scavina doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Scavina was in the circle for Cardinal Mooney. The pitcher allowed 12 hits and 13 runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Sam Holden, Scavina, and Grace Raymer each managed one hit to lead Cardinal Mooney.

IRISH WIN FINAL TOURNAMENT TUNE UP

YOUNGSTOWN OH-

Ursuline took home a 4-1 victory over Gilmour Academy on Monday.

Mia Opalick toed the rubber for Ursuline. The ace lasted five and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out seven. Emily Holland came on in relief. She got the final 5 outs for the Irish to seal up the win and earn the save.

 

Alyssa Sheely led Ursuline with two hits in three at bats. She also broke up the Lancers no hit bid in the fourth and eventually came around to score the first run of the game. Irish freshman Arrianna Wendt hit a RBI double in the fifth. It was her first extra base hit, and RBI of her career.

Ursuline opens tournament play on Tuesday as they play Campbell at Liberty Township Park.

LANCERS SNATCH ONE FROM SOUTH RANGE

GATES MILLS OH-

Saturday’s game against Gilmour Academy was a heartbreaker for South Range, as they lost the lead late in a 4-2 defeat. The game was tied at one with Gilmour Academy batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run.

Aidan English took the loss for the Raiders. The righthander went two innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out two.

Billy Skripac started the game for South Range. The righty allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking zero

Trey Pancake and Stevie Rohan each collected one hit to lead South Range.
