MACK HAS THE BOOK ON BALLIN

By Ty Bartell

AKRON OH- After the conclusion of another successful regular season, The Archbishop Hoban Knights girls basketball season ended the campaign with a 16-3 record as they gear up for the postseason as the #1 seed in The Division 1, Region 1, Northeast 3 bracket. One of the leaders of the season so far has been one of The Knights seniors Mackenzie Edingburgh! An all-around scoring combo guard that does not need much space to pull the trigger from distance, but can also burn defenses with impressive speed to the post!

With ten years and counting worth of basketball experience, Mack has learned and honed in all her skills from years past, putting it all on display for her senior campaign. Practice gets you closer to perfect, and the practices have been memorable ones for Mack, always tough but also fun, especially when Coach Willie has one of his famous practice injuries that have racked up over the years! That perfectly sums up Mackenzie Edingburgh’s mentality as a baller, walking that line between locked-in serious and light-hearted having fun. As Mack looks to return to the experiences of freshman season, The Knights look to be back…..in Dayton.

ATTACKING THE OPPORTUNITY

AKRON OH- It was a fantastic season for Hoban on the girls basketball floor. The Knights fought their way to a fourth straight district championship.  We have talked to all the seniors of the team and talked about how well they led a fairly young roster, but before we close the book on the season we wanted to highlight a future leader. Mackenzie Edingburgh has patiently waited for her opportunity to shine.  She got some valuable time in last season’s regional game, and this season she was loaded up and ready to go.

Edingburgh came into this season knowing that it was going to be her time.  She worked hard to get herself ready for the moment.  Her work ethic was unmatched.  As the season went on it was clear how much that work would pay off.  Edingburgh has turned into a starter, a rising leader, and one of the biggest parts of an opponent’s scouting report.  Mackenzie brings a great duo of length and athleticism that is an asset on the basketball court.  She is also blossoming into a lock down defender that is hard to get past.  There’s been no challenge that has been put in front of her that she hasn’t been able to knock down.  Next year will be her season to be one of the biggest leaders on the roster, but it’s been this season that has given her the stepping stone to lead to what promises to be an incredible 2023-2024 year.

Edingburgh took the time to do an interview with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to talk about her season.  She talks about the opportunity that has been put in front of her, how much she has worked to get it, and much more. Check out the final Hoban Girls Basketball Player Profile only on YSN.
