HERALDS RUN WILD IN CHALKER WIN

Ashtabula, OH- St. John Heralds dominated the Chalker Wildcats with an impressive 12-1 victory on Thursday.

The Wildcats struck first in the opening inning, with Vince DelVecchio’s sacrifice fly driving in a run. However, the Heralds quickly responded, capitalizing on two errors to take a commanding 3-1 lead by the end of the inning.

In the second inning, the Heralds further solidified their lead with a powerful offensive display, scoring five runs on just two hits. DelVecchio managed to induce a fielder’s choice from Ezra Campbell, but the Heralds still managed to score, with Aaron Wychock and Brady Cole delivering clutch hits to drive in runs.

The Heralds continued to pour on the runs, adding another run in the third inning to extend their lead to 9-1, with Campbell drawing a walk to bring in a run.

Cole started the game on the mound for the Heralds, delivering a solid performance by allowing just one run over one inning. DelVecchio took the mound for the Wildcats but struggled, giving up eight runs (three earned) over two innings. Wychock and Will Anderson came in as relief pitchers for the Heralds, shutting down the Wildcats’ offense with shutout innings.

Wychock led the Heralds’ offense with two RBIs, going 2-for-2 at the plate. The Heralds showed discipline at the plate, drawing a total of 10 walks throughout the game. Chase Clutter and Anderson displayed patience, each drawing two walks. Wychock also showcased his speed on the basepaths, stealing two bases.

Defensively, the Heralds were impeccable, committing no errors in the field, with Kyle Hejduk making the most plays with seven chances.

Del Vecchio drove in the lone run for the Wildcats, while Daniel Kellar and Logan Smallsreed collected one hit each.

The Heralds look to carry their momentum into their next game, a doubleheader on the road against the Maplewood Rockets on Saturday.
