SPRINGFIELD TIGERS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 2) WITH STEVE FRENCH

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – Coming off a district championship, head coach Steve French and the Springfield Tigers are hungry for more! The Tigers defeated Pymatuning Valley, 63-53, in that district championship game and will now advance to the regional semi-finals to take on Creston Norwayne on Tuesday night!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to sit down with Coach French this week via video chat to discuss that thrilling district championship game, what his outlook is moving forward to the Norwayne match up, what coaching during the COVID pandemic has been like all year, and much much more!

MCDONALD BLUE DEVILS BASKETBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 3) WITH JAMES FRANCESCHELLI

MCDONALD, OH – The McDonald Blue Devils and head coach, Jimmy Franceschelli, seem to be playing near-perfect basketball right now as they currently 14-0 overall and 8-0 in the MVAC! The Blue Devils will look to put their winning streak on the line this week as they will travel to their “neighbors” to take on the Mineral Ridge Rams on Friday night!

Yokley, was able to sit down with Coach Franceschelli this week via video chat to discuss the fourteen game winning streak, the huge win over Waterloo last week, his outlook for the conference match up Friday with the Rams, and what the Blue Devils have to do to keep taking care of business and keep winning!

MCDONALD, OH – The McDonald Blue Devils boys basketball team is finally getting things underway this season after a county-wide shutdown and head coach, James Franceschelli, could not be more excited! Coach Franceschelli is in his first season as head coach of the Blue Devils and he is looking to continue the success and tradition of McDonald basketball. The Blue Devils will open up the season on Wednesday, December 23rd, at 7pm, as they will take on the Valley Christian Eagles.

YSN’s own, D.J. Yokley, was able to sit down with Coach Franceschelli, via video chat this week to talk about his team and how the Blue Devils have remained focused through the shutdown, what his blessing in disguise was throughout the preseason and month leading up to today, and what we can all expect from the boys this year as they look to build on last year’s success!

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – Head coach Sean Guerriero and the Springfield Tigers are back in the Division VI state championship game for a second consecutive year as they defeated Fort Frye last week in Zanesville, 16-13, in an exciting semi-final game! Up next for the Tigers will be the final game of the season as they will take on the Coldwater Cavaliers on Sunday at 5pm!

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, was able to catch up via video chat with Coach G this week to discuss the Tigers semi-final victory over Fort Frye, what the Tigers need to do to bring home the state championship this week, how he and his staff have been keeping the team focused throughout this current playoff run especially now that they are one win away from the trophy, and much much more!

SPRINGFIELD FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP. 10) WITH SEAN GUERRIERO

NEW MIDDLETOWN, OH – The Springfield Tigers are back in the state final four and head coach, Sean Guerriero couldn’t be more excited! The Tigers are coming off a nail biting victory on the final play of the game over Norwayne last week, 52-48. The Tigers connected on a double reverse pass for a touchdown from Beau Brungard to Lukas Yemma. Up next for Springfield is a trip to Zanesville for a neutral site contest against Fort Frye, with a trip to the Division VI state final on the line.

YSN’s own, Steve Leslie, had the opportunity to sit down via video chat with Coach G this week to discuss the Tigers last second victory over Norwayne, what led him to make that final play call in a situation like that, what he and his staff have done so far to prepare for Fort Frye, and how the Tigers have stayed focused all playoffs but especially now that they know they are one of the final four teams!
