BLUE DEVILS CAGE BLUEJAYS

NORTH JACKSON, OH – The 2019-2020 regular season is officially over for the Lisbon Blue Devils as they traveled up to Jackson Milton to take on the Bluejays. The Blue Devils and the Bluejays both were looking for a win to build some confidence before heading into the playoffs next Tuesday, but it was the Blue Devils that emerged victorious with a 52-41 win.

From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the Lisbon Blue Devils controlled the tempo and handled everything Jackson Milton threw their way. The Blue Devils couldn’t break off a big lead until late in the third quarter. Once Lisbon went up by 10, the Bluejays were never able to regain any momentum or chip away at the Lisbon lead.

The Bluejays were led by Cole Grope with 12 points and Andrew Bouch Jr. with 10 points.

The Blue Devils were led by Ryan McCullough with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Blayne Brownfield added 11 points and 4 rebounds. Nic Mundy finished the night with 11 points and 3 rebounds.

Up next for Lisbon will be the first game of the OHSAA boys state playoffs on Tuesday, February 25th, as the 6th seeded Blue Devils will welcome the 11th seeded Western Reserve Blue Devils to town.

WARRIORS SLAM PAST BLUE DEVILS

LISBON, OH – The final home game of the 2019-2020 regular season for the Lisbon Blue Devils saw them host the Brookfield Warriors in a non-conference match up. The meeting of these two teams will be the first in well over a decade. Both squads entered the game looking to build some momentum before the state playoffs begin next Tuesday.

Brookfield came out of the opening tip on fire as they connected on two threes but also pounded the ball inside as they took a 17-12 lead into the second quarter. The Blue Devils however matched the Warriors on the offensive end in the second but still trailed, 30-25, at the half. Once the second half got underway, the Warriors continued their offensive attack as they proceeded to outscore Lisbon 20-13 in the quarter. The Blue Devils tried to battle back in the fourth quarter but two thunderous slam dunks by Brookfield’s, Conner Stevens, put the game just out of reach for Lisbon as they would fall, 69-62.

The Brookfield Warriors were led by Conner Stevens with 17 points and both Gage Emery and Haden Gibson added 15 points.

The Lisbon Blue Devils were led by Blayne Brownfield with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Gaige Rohm chipped in with 12 points, as Ryan McCullough also added in 9 points and 10 assists. Nic Mundy was on the boards hard as well, racking up 7 on the night.

Up next for Lisbon (9-11) will be the final game of the regular season, as they will travel up to Jackson-Milton to take on the Bluejays on Friday night.
