CANFIELD’S PLANT BREAKS 48 YEAR OLD RECORD

AUSTINTOWN, OH- Canfield Senior Nick Plant continues to run like a buzzsaw through the record books, and this weekend broke a 48-year old county record at the Mahoning County Championships.

Plant shattered the 800 meter dash record with a time of 1:51:61 to win the event.  The previous record was 1:57:70 that dates back to 1974.

That wasn’t all for Plant, who also won the 1600 meter contest, and helped win the 4×400 relay with teammates Jack Hrina, Ronnie Sinkivich, and Ryan Bennett.

PLANTING SEEDS FOR SUCCESS

CANFIELD OH- Canfield track star Nick Plant has taken his success far past the stretches of our valley. The star runner is coming off a summer where he won gold in the 800m run at the Brooks Invitational in Seattle. His winning time of 1:49.39 beat even his state title time of 1:49.79.

EAGLE WEAR KEEPS ROTH OFFENSE DOWN

STRUTHERS OH- Eagle Wear pitching was on point Sunday morning as they held Roth Brothers to 2 hits in a 6-1 win. Eagle Wear scored 6 runs on 8 hits.

Ryan Hooper went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI for Eagle Wear. Anthony Caruso went 1-3 with a RBI. Cal Rink went 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

For Roth Brothers, Nick Plant went 1-1 with a RBI. Derek Porter collected the other Roth Brothers hit. Sam Campbell scored the only Roth run and he also walked once.

Jake Papagallo earned the win on the hill for Eagle Wear. He went 5 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits. He struck out 9.

DURA EDGE OVERPOWERS ROTH BROTHERS

STRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge overcame an early deficit on Tuesday to beat Roth Brothers 4-1. They held Roth to just 1 run on 1 hit. While Dura Edge scored 4 runs on 3 hits. 3 errors committed by Roth ended up being a big tipping point in this pitcher’s duel.

Brady Shannon went 1-2 in the Dura Edge win with a run scored, a walk, and a RBI. Caleb Jones went 1-3. Ryan Telesz went 1-2 with a run scored.

Alec Gryzb has the sole hit for Roth Brothers. He went 1-3. Nick Plant collected the only RBI for Roth. He went 0-2 with a walk.

Nate Rynd got the win for Dura Edge. He went 4 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. He struck out 3.

DURA EDGE DECIMATES ROTH BROTHERS

STRUTHERS OH- Dura Edge was in a league of its own on Wednesday night against Roth Brothers. Dura Edge scores nine runs in the 3rd and 4th innings combined on their way to a 13-4 victory.

Brady Shannon has a very productive day at the plate for Dura Edge. He went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Ryan Telesz went 1-3 with 2 RBI.

For Roth Brothers, AJ Patellis went 1-2 with 2 RBI. Nick Plant went 2-2 with 2 runs scored. Derek Porter went 1-2 with a walk and a RBI.

Isaac Librich picked up the win toeing the rubber for Dura Edge. He went 2 innings giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits. He struck out 1.
