GIVE US MORE, ABBY GEORGE

There is no better example of a player thriving through pressure like that of Abby George. Last season an injury forced her to be a starting middle blocker on varsity, a role that she had no varsity experience in. Not even the coaches could have predicted how fast she picked things up. By the end of the season she was a consistent weapon in the middle. 

Now walking in to her senior season, Abby is hit with a sense of urgency. This is her last season to make her mark and help get her team where they want to be. Now about three quarters of the way through the season she is doing just that. Abby has become a force to be reckoned with at the net, and an even better team leader.

MASUCCI IN THE MIDDLE

Katie Masucci heads into her senior season of volleyball with high hopes for the program. The multi sport athlete excelled in her ability to manage her time. The daughter of two teachers never forgets how important her schoolwork is and is adamant in the motto “school comes first.” On the volleyball court shes listed as a middle blocker but also is versatile enough to go outside when her team needs her. With a strong swing and plenty of athleticism this senior is an asset to the Bulldogs program. 

Anthony Hartwig sat down with Katie fresh off a big five set win over South Range. They talk about her senior year, what she wants to see from the program in years to come, and much more. WUKOTICH SETS THE TONE

With limited senior presence on the Beavers this year, the small group of young men thrust into the leadership role have done a sensational job. Nick Wukotich, defensive linemen, embraces this responsibility and is ready for this upcoming rivalry game with East Liverpool.

 

YSN’s Mike McKenzie spoke with Nick about their great start and the changes to his schedule.

Opposing offenses this year certainly know the name Zach Murray, as he is part of a phenomenal Quaker defense that has held all three of their opponents below 15 points this year. The senior defensive end reeks havoc wherever he lines up, but he’s also been making his presence felt on the offensive side of the ball as well.

Anna Primavera has earned the YSN tag Primetime for her ability to come up with big kills her team needs. Going into her senior season she is still the go to attacker for the Raiders offense. The new record holder for aces in a match looks to pen her name into the programs prestigious history. 

In this season the Raiders have added some serious weapons to take pressure off Anna and it’s been a welcome adjustment for the senior outside hitter.
