CREEKSIDE GETS EARLY MORNING WIN

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside’s 18U team started the NABF senior World Series off hot with a win over ProNine on Thursday. Nick Magnifico was magnificent on the mound, leading his club to a 4-0 shutout victory.

Danny Flynn went 1-2 on the day with a walk and an RBI. Will Morrow went 1-3 with an RBI. Tyler Kamerer had a sac-fly to score a run and RBI, he also had a walk and a stolen base.  

Nick Magnifico went all 7 innings and completed a shutout. He gave up just 2 hits and struck out 9.

SAYO GRAYS STRIKE FAST

STRUTHERS OH- There was no stopping the Sayo  Grays on Thursday in round one of NABF 18U action at Bob Cene Park. The Sayo Grays were on fire at the plate as they rumbled for an 18-7 win over ProNine Baseball.

Romel Rocco was the most productive bat in the lineup for the Sayo Grays. He went 1-3 with 3 walks, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.  Obiel Sanchez also notched 3 RBI as he went 1-5 on the day.  Rafael Castillo had a great day going 2-3 with 2 walks, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI.  Teonis Pimentel made the most out of a 1-4 outing as he knocked in a pair of RBI.  He scored 2 runs and drew a walk.

Philip Dragovich got the win on the mound for the Sayo Grays going 4.2 IP and giving up 6 runs on 10 hits.  He struck out a pair.

Chris Maurer was perfect at the plate for ProNine. He went 3-3 with a run scored, and a pair of RBI.  Anthony Womer also was never retired at the plate. He went 1-1 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a RBI.

LONGHORNS BOUNCE BACK ON DAY TWO

STRUTHERS OH-

Nine runs in the fifth inning led Ohio Longhorns past ProNine 16u 13-2 on Friday. The big bats in the inning were led by a triple by Trevor Vojtkofsky, a single by Noah Newman, a groundout by Reed Sackett, a fielder’s choice by AJ Pestello, an error on a ball put in play by Jake Holmes, and a double by Alex Parker.

Ohio Longhorns pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Sackett tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Dominic King’s sac fly scored one run, and Newman doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Ohio Longhorns notched nine runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Pestello, Holmes, Sackett, Vojtkofsky, Newman, and Parker, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Andrew Fisher was credited with the victory for Ohio Longhorns. The righthander surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out six.

Mason Reville took the loss for ProNine. The pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Ohio Longhorns collected 13 hits on the day. Sackett, Vojtkofsky, Newman, Holmes, and Parker each managed multiple hits. Sackett led with three hits in four at bats.

DIAMOND HIT CLUB SNEAKS ONE AWAY FROM CREEKSIDE

STRUTHERS OH-

DHC Diamond Hit Club stole the lead late and defeated Creekside Fitness 5-4 on Friday in the second day of the NABF World Series. The game was tied at four with DHC Diamond Hit Club batting in the bottom of the sixth when Nate McClure drew a walk, scoring one run.

DHC Diamond Hit Club built a four-run lead in the third inning and then held off a Creekside Fitness charge. Creekside put up four runs in the failed comeback. Danny Flynn, Nick Magnifico, and Payton Zupko picked up RBIs to lead the rally.

Creekside Fitness evened things up at four in the top of the fifth inning. An error scored one run.

Vince Cairns earned the win for DHC Diamond Hit Club. Cairns surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out one. Adam Salesky threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Salesky recorded the last nine outs to earn the save.

McCartney took the loss for Creekside. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits.

Sam Retton went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead DHC Diamond Hit Club.

Johnny Leedham led Creekside Fitness with two hits in four at bats.

PROSPECTS WIN ANOTHER CLOSE ONE

STRUTHERS OH-

Last night in their first game of the NABF World Series, the Prospects 16U club won 4-3 on a walk off balk against the Ohio Longhorns. Friday morning, they’d win 4-3 again, this time against ProNine Baseball.

The Prospects got things started in the first inning when Remington Hart doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Prospects pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. They scored one run on a stolen base.

Jack Liepheimer led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Prospects. The bulldog allowed three hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Matt Majewski started the game for ProNine. The pitcher surrendered four runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out one. Drew Mckenna threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

ProNine totaled six hits in the game. Mckenna and David Faremouth all managed multiple hits. Faremouth and Mckenna each collected two hits to lead.

Prospects saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Caleb Hadley and Jak Kenney each had multiple hits to lead.
