CRESTVIEW GLIDES TO NEXT ROUND

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview opened their big tournament run on Tuesday night with a quick win over Waterloo to advance to the sectional finals. (25-4 25-6 25-7)

Grace Auer had 8 kills, and 21 assists to finish as one of the team’s leaders. Abbey Emch led the Rebels offense with 12 kills, and added 2 blocks. Lucy Montgomery had a nice night as well. She finished with 9 kills, and 8 digs.

Crestview advances to the sectional finals on Thursday as they host East Canton. Start time is set for 6:00.

CRESTVIEW STANDS TALL IN OVERTIME

COLUMBIANA OH- Last season, Champion and Crestview met in week 1 in a rainstorm. Then, it was the Flashes that got the last laugh as they handed the Rebels their only loss of the regular season. This time around the match up came in Week 9, and it lived up to the billing. Crestview made the last play in overtime for a 44-38 win.

Roclen Bettura was the definition of workhorse on the night for the Rebels. He got 36 carries and gained 251 yards. He accumulated 3 touchdowns as well. Anthony Cusick was 9/27 with 73 yards. He threw for two touchdowns, and ran for another.

Keegan McDermott led the Flashes with 177 yards on 10 carries. He crossed the goal line twice. Joey Fell threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for a touchdown as well. McDermott hit a 49 yard field goal to tie the game in regulation.

Crestview will end their regular season Friday as they travel to Newton Falls. Champion continues their season Friday as they host Brookfield.

REBELS WIN IN HOME FINALE

COLUMBIANA OH- It’s the last week of the regular season for volleyball. Crestview played their last home game of the regular season on Monday. They were able to sweep Heartland in straight sets. (25-8 25-11 25-10.

Grace Auer secured yet another double double on the season with 10 kills, and 10 digs. She also set up 9 assists. Lucy Montgomery celebrated a birthday by finishing with a double double with 11 assists, and 11 digs. She finished with 7 kills. Shelby Rambo swung well getting 9 kills. Kendra Greaves led the defense with 13 digs.

Emma Hall led the Lions with 4 kills. She played excellent defense with a match high 19 digs.

The two teams will suit up against each other again on Tuesday, this time at Heartland.

SALEM RESPONDS WITH SHUTOUT OF REBELS

SALEM OH- On Monday, Salem suffered their first loss of the season against Howland. Their schedule didn’t get any easier, as a dangerous Crestview offense came to them on Wednesday. They were no match for Salem’s defense though, and the Quakers got back in the win column with the 4-0 win.

Rylee Hutton set the tone from the start. She scored a hat trick before the match even reached halftime. Mikaylnn Murphy also contributed a goal to the cause. Abby Perry collected a pair of assists.

Salem has a big matchup with West Branch on Wednesday.

REBELS SECURE AUER’S 300TH WIN

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview clinched the MVAC title on Tuesday, but they had another big milestone to complete on Wednesday in LaBrae. Not only did the Rebels earn their 20th win of the season, they also secured head coach Alisha Auer’s 300th career victory.

Lucy Montgomery earned a triple double on the night finishing with 13 kills, 13 assists, and 10 digs. Grace Auer joined her with a triple double herself. She finished with 12 kills, 17 assists, and 12 digs. Abbey Emch collected 7 kills, and a pair of blocks.

Crestview will return home with their 20-0 record to host Heartland Christian on Monday. LaBrae will host Niles on Tuesday.

CRESTVIEW MAKES IT BACK TO BACK IN MVAC

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview has been in three different leagues since 2016, and they’ve dominated every single one of them. On Tuesday with a sweep over Garfield, Crestview secured their second MVAC championship in a row. However, a dig further into the past will show you that they’ve won 6 straight conference championships. Ranging from the ITCL, to the AAC, to now the first two seasons in the MVAC, the Rebels have planted their flag. (25-10 25-11 25-18)

Abbey Emch led the offense this time around with 14 kills, and played good defense with 4 blocks. Lucy Montgomery finished with 7 kills, and 13 assists. Grace Auer secured a double double with 19 assists, and 10 digs. She also had 6 kills.

Crestview returns to action Wednesday as they travel to LaBrae. Garfield is back to the court on Thursday as they travel to Brookfield.

REBELS STAY HOT AGAINST CAMPBELL

CAMPBELL OH- Crestview kept on rolling on Thursday as they completed their week on the road with a sweeping win in Campbell. (25-11 25-20 25-9)

Grace Auer blasted on the scene with an amazing 18 kills. She completed a double double with 14 assists. Lucy Montgomery also finished with a double double gathering 19 assists, and 10 digs. Shelby Rambo finished with 9 kills, 3 blocks, and 4 aces.

Crestview returns home on Tuesday as they match up for a second time with Garfield. Campbell will travel to Sebring on Monday.

NEWTON FALLS NO MATCH FOR REBELS

NEWTON FALLS OH- Crestview stayed unbeaten on Tuesday night as they continued play in the MVAC. The Rebels swept Newton Falls in straight sets. (25-12 25-23 25-9).

Lucy Montgomery earned another double double on the season with 16 assists, and 12 digs. Grace Auer led the team in kills, and also collected a double double. She finished with 12 kills, and 17 assists. Abbey Emch, and Shelby Rambo both finished with 10 kills. Emch added an eye popping 7 blocks to her stat sheet.

Crestview will stay on the road on Thursday as they travel to Campbell. Newton Falls will travel to Garfield on Thursday.

TIGERS KEEP ON KEEPING ON

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield girls soccer continues to be one of the more productive programs in the area. They improved upon their record on Monday night with a 4-2 win over a tough Crestview team.

Gracie Venturella and Ava Vecchione each scored two goals and each had an assist for the Tigers tonight.

Brionna holt added two assists of her own. Caitlin Cappelli captured sixteen saves for Springfield. The Tigers improve to 6-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the MVAC.

Springfield welcomes Champion to Tiger Stadium Monday, October 4.

CRESTVIEW FIGHTS THROUGH WARRIORS

BROOKFIEKD OH- The last time Brookfield and Crestview squared off on the volleyball court, it was the Rebels that swept three competitive sets. That match was just 4 days before their second match of the year. This time around, the Warriors snuck a set away from Crestview. But the Rebels fought through it and won the match in 4. (25-19 25-14 19-25 25-14)

Grace Auer led the Rebels with a triple double. She finished with 12 kills, 18 assists, and 16 digs. Lucy Montgomery led the team in kills with 13. She finished with a double double setting up 16 assists. Abbey Emch had a great night at the nets. She finished with 9 kills, 4 blocks, and served up 4 aces.

Lauren Shingledecker, and Anna Reichart both finished the night with impressive numbers. Reichart collected a double double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Shingledecker had 9 kills, and 15 digs. Logan Shingledecker did a great job with back row defense. Bailey Hackett got 3 blocks on the night.

Crestview is now 16-0 on the year and will be back in action Tuesday at Newton Falls. Brookfield will hit the road on Tuesday and travel to LaBrae.
