ATWATER OH- In an impressive display of dominance, the Lowellville Rockets soared to a commanding 40-8 victory over Waterloo in Week 9. The Rockets left no room for doubt, showcasing their prowess throughout the game.

Lowellville quickly established their presence in the game when Michael Ballone connected with Matt Lucido for a sensational 65-yard passing touchdown. This early strike put Lowellville ahead 7-0, leaving Waterloo with a challenging climb ahead. The touchdown occurred with 4:22 remaining in the first quarter.

The Rockets continued to expand their lead in the second quarter. Geno Perry powered through for a 2-yard rushing touchdown, increasing Lowellville’s advantage to 13-0. This impressive run occurred with 11:15 left in the second quarter.

Tino Rivera-Ocasio added to Lowellville’s offensive prowess with a remarkable 52-yard rushing touchdown at 3:56 in the second quarter. This outstanding play extended the lead to 20-0.

Just before the end of the first half, Michael Ballone showcased his skill again. He launched a 28-yard passing touchdown to Landon Esenwein. The pass was tipped in the air, resulting in a jump ball that Esenwein skillfully grabbed. With 33 seconds left in the second quarter, Lowellville held a commanding 26-0 lead.

The third quarter brought no respite for Waterloo as Lowellville continued to assert their dominance. Tino Rivera-Ocasio, already having a standout game, secured his second rushing touchdown, this time for 26 yards. The extra point was good, pushing the score to 33-0 with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter.

Codi Nofli joined the scoring frenzy with a 3-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point was successful, making it 40-0 Lowellville.

In the final quarter, Waterloo managed to find the end zone with Luke Thomas scoring a rushing touchdown and a successful two-point conversion

LOWELLVILLE SHOWS OFF THEIR STRENGTH

LOWELLVILLE OH- In a display of sheer dominance, Lowellville asserted their strength on the football field with an emphatic 40-6 victory over McDonald.

The game featured an eventful first quarter as McDonald’s defense made an early impact with Jayden Taylor recovering a fumble and returning it 32 yards for a touchdown, although their PAT attempt was unsuccessful. Lowellville quickly answered with a 3-yard touchdown run by Tino Rivera-Ocasio, followed by a successful PAT by Matt Lucido, giving them a 7-6 lead.

The second quarter saw Lowellville extend their advantage as quarterback Michael Ballone connected with Braylen Dabney for an 11-yard touchdown pass, and later, Ballone found Matt Lucido for a 14-yard TD pass, although the PAT was no good, making it 19-6.

The third quarter remained scoreless, but the fourth quarter belonged to Lowellville. Geno Perry powered through with a 14-yard touchdown run, followed by Ballone’s 51-yard rushing TD and a 28-yard TD pass by Ricky Wilrich to Bruce Brenner. Western Reserve Dominates Lowellville in 3-0 Victory

In a stunning display of volleyball prowess, Western Reserve emerged victorious with an emphatic 3-0 win over Lowellville. The final scores of 25-13, 25-10, and 25-10 reflected Western Reserve’s absolute control of the game, leaving their opponents struggling to find answers.

The Western Reserve squad featured several standout players who delivered outstanding performances throughout the match. Lisa Eichert was a force to be reckoned with, leading the charge with an incredible 19 kills, 2 aces, and 9 digs. Eichert’s powerful attacks and precision proved too much for Lowellville to handle.

Alyvia Hughes matched Eichert’s impressive stats, recording 19 kills of her own along with 11 digs and 1 ace. Her consistency at the net and remarkable defensive efforts were crucial to Western Reserve’s success.

Angelina Cappabianca added to the offensive onslaught with 12 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace, and 5 digs. Cappabianca’s versatility and ability to contribute both offensively and defensively were instrumental in securing the victory.

Ally Jones was a defensive stalwart, recording 16 digs and ensuring that Lowellville struggled to find gaps in Western Reserve’s defense.

MOONEY HALTS STREAKING ROCKETS

YOUNGSTOWN OH- The Mooney Volleyball team showcased their resilience and determination in a hard-fought match against Lowellville, securing a well-deserved 3-0 victory. The scores tell the story of intense battles on the court, with sets ending 27-25, 25-18, and 25-20 in favor of Mooney.

Several key players made significant contributions to Mooney’s success. Brinkley Bair led the team with an impressive 13 kills and added 5 digs to her stellar performance. Jaida Lane matched Bair’s 13 kills and made an impact with 2 aces.

Natalie Blasko orchestrated the team’s plays effectively, tallying 35 assists and contributing 11 digs on the defensive end. Amarra Anderson showcased her prowess at the net with 7 kills and 4 crucial blocks.

LOWELLVILLE OH- In a hard-fought Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference showdown, the Lowellville Rockets hosted the Mineral Ridge Rams, emerging victorious with a final score of 38-21.

The opening quarter saw both teams engaging in a defensive standoff, resulting in a scoreless tie at the end of the period.

Lowellville was the first to break the silence, as their kicker, Mathew Lucido, expertly slotted a field goal through the uprights, granting the Rockets a 3-0 lead. The momentum continued for Lowellville as they executed a pivotal special teams play, blocking a punt. This turnover paved the way for an 8-yard touchdown pass by Michael Ballone, who connected over the middle on a critical 4th and goal.

Mineral Ridge, however, was quick to respond with a burst of offensive energy. Senior standout Ian Erb showcased his speed with an explosive 50-yard run down to the 5-yard line. Erb completed the drive with a touchdown run, bringing the score to 17-7.

Lowellville remained relentless, with Ballone at the helm. The Rockets’ quarterback unleashed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Mathew Lucido, extending their lead.

As the game progressed into the third quarter, Ian Erb continued to make his presence known. This time, he hauled in a 50-yard touchdown catch from junior quarterback Owen Shingledecker, narrowing the gap to 24-14.

Nevertheless, the Rockets were determined to secure the win. Ballone displayed his prowess once again, tossing two more touchdown passes, including one to senior Braylen Dabney. Heading into the fourth quarter, Lowellville held a commanding 38-14 advantage.

ROCKETS HAVE A BIG REBOUND

The match unfolded with closely contested sets, with final scores of 23-25, 25-12, 26-24, and 25-23, ultimately favoring Lowellville.

Key players for Lowellville made significant contributions to secure the victory. Aryana Romano showcased her offensive prowess with 8 kills and contributed 8 digs, highlighting her impact on both ends of the court. Mia Mangine displayed her versatility with 5 kills, 4 aces, and 11 digs, showcasing her ability to score and serve effectively while also contributing defensively.

Alyssa Kuzan played a pivotal role in facilitating the team’s offense, tallying an impressive 18 assists. BERLIN CENTER OH- In an exhilarating MVAC matchup, Western Reserve secured a hard-fought 21-14 win over Lowellville.

The first quarter remained scoreless as both teams battled for control. The suspense built as the game entered the second quarter, where Western Reserve drew first blood. Quarterback Luke Henning connected with Dominic Ricciardi on a 5-yard touchdown pass, and Andriy Chuta Soy added the extra point, putting Western Reserve ahead 7-0. However, Lowellville responded swiftly, with Tino Rivera-Ocasio charging into the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown run, and Matthew Lucido’s successful PAT leveled the score at 7-7.

The third quarter opened with Lowellville making a strong statement. Quarterback Michael Ballone orchestrated an 18-yard touchdown run, and with Lucido’s PAT, they claimed a 14-7 lead. Western Reserve, determined to turn the tide, answered back. Henning showcased his passing prowess once more, delivering a 13-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Cannon. With Chuta Soy’s PAT, the game was tied at 14-14.

Alyvia Hughes led the charge with an impressive 12 kills, 11 digs, and 3 service aces, demonstrating her versatility as both an offensive and defensive force. Allison Jones showcased her defensive prowess with an outstanding 17 digs, while Angelina Cappabianca’s contributions included 8 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 aces. Izzy Mauro added to the offensive firepower with 8 kills and 2 blocks, while setter Haylee Fellows orchestrated the offense with precision, tallying 25 assists.

On the Lowellville side, Aryanna Romano distributed 4 assists, while Morgan Lewis and Serrina Tynch each contributed 3 kills, striving to keep their team in the contest.

SOUTHERN BAGS A TRI MATCH VICTORY

LAKE MILTON OH- The Southern Local Girls Golf Team traveled to Lake Milton Wednesday looking for mid season tri match victory. The Indians came through with that victory over Mineral Ridge and Lowellville on a blustery cool day at Olde Dutch Mill. Southern-(221) was led by Kenedy Lewis who posted a day’s best 44. Paige Riggs 54, Rylee Digman, 60 and Cate Brewer 64 all contributed to the win for the Indians.

Mineral Ridge recorded a team score of 232 on the day. Aubree Brunton carded a 53, while a trio of freshman Alayna Valley 55, Savannah Turek 60 and Issy Showalter 64 rounded out the scoring for the Rams.

Gianna Clemente 62 and Joclyn DelSignore 67 lead the way for Lowellville who finished with a score of 272 as a team.

RAMIREZ ORTIZ GRABS ANOTHER MILESTONE IN RED DEVIL SWEEP

CAMPBELL OH- In a dominating performance, Campbell Memorial’s volleyball team secured a commanding victory over Lowellville in a three-set sweep. The scores were 25-10, 25-16, and 25-16, clearly reflecting Campbell’s dominance on the court.

The team’s stellar performance was underscored by impressive individual statistics. Angeliz Diaz and Carla Ramirez Ortiz led the serving charge, each contributing 3 aces to their team’s success. Kendall Brunn was a force to be reckoned with, recording an impressive 13 kills, while Cyra Cross showcased her prowess with 10 kills at an impressive .476 hitting percentage.

The team’s defense was solidified by MiLeena Williams, who notched 3 blocks, and Kendall Brunn, who added 2 more. Cyra Cross, Angeliz Diaz, and Jayda Coriano collectively recorded 33 digs, with Cyra Cross leading the pack at 12. The driving force behind the team’s seamless coordination was Carla Ramirez Ortiz, who not only tallied 30 assists in the match but also achieved a personal milestone, surpassing 1500 career assists.

The Campbell Memorial team’s remarkable performance left no doubt about their dominance on the volleyball court.

Campbell will test their sharpness on Tuesday as they host powerhouse Crestview.
