BROOKFIELD DRIVES IN MVAC VICTORY

BROOKFIEKD OH- In an exciting golf match, Brookfield emerged victorious with a score of 184-203 against LaBrae.

Brookfield’s top performers showcased their skills on the green, with Brayden DeMaria leading the charge with a score of 43. Hunter Warrender closely followed with a score of 44, while Cody Davidson posted a respectable 45. Bray Coleman contributed a score of 52, and Aeryn Berena rounded out the team’s efforts with a score of 58. David DeJoy completed the lineup with a score of 65.

LaBrae’s team put up a valiant effort, with Austin Rowe leading the way with a score of 44. Christian Haught followed with a score of 49, and Dylan Simpson recorded a score of 54. Adam Bartholemew contributed a score of 56, while Jack Simpson and Bryce Taylor posted scores of 63 and 68 respectively.

Ultimately, it was Brookfield’s consistent performance that secured the victory, demonstrating their prowess on the golf course. Both teams showcased their dedication and skill, making for an engaging match that highlighted the talent of the players.

BOARDMAN BRINGS HOME A SOLID VICTORY OVER VIKINGS

CANTON OH- Boardman was not shy about opening the volleyball season with a big test. The Spartans hit the road and travel to North Canton to take on the Hoover Vikings.  The Spartans were seeking revenge as Hoover opened last season with a sweep of them in Boardman.  The tables were turned in Canton as the Spartans took away a hard fought 4 set victory.  (25-23 25-22 18-25 25-17)

Leading on the court in kills was MC Werth with 14 and Maya Flores with 10. Ava Commons had 23 assists, while Gianna Cicchillo led with 21 digs. Ava Bosnjak and CiCi Johnson led with 5 blocks a piece.

The next game will take place against Girard at Boardman on August 22nd at 7pm.

VIKINGS RACK UP A BIG MVAC VICTORY

LAKE MILTON OH- Waterloo and MIneral Ridge squared off Thursday looking to cement their status as one of the top golf teams in the MVAC in 2023.

It was the Vikings who garnered that status as they came away with a 167-174 victory over the Rams at Old Dutch Mill. Jackson Eichler took medalist honors posting a 38. Teammates Clayton Smith 40, Trevor Simons 44 and Drew Flarida 45 all posted solid scores in the Vikings victory.

MIneral Ridge was led by Trey Rigley who carded a 39. The Rams also received contributions from  AJ Sandy 42, Jackson Geddes 45, Keaton Kucera and Cody Gongaware each shooting 48.

LABRAE SHOOTS FOR MVAC WIN

LEAVITTSBURG OH- The Labrae Vikings took to the links Wednesday looking for an early MVAC statement. That statement was served as the Vikings came away with a 164-177 victory over Crestview at Beaver Creek Meadows.

Austin Rowe led the way, carding a 35 for Labrae.  Luke Requardt posted a 41 and Peyton Conkle contriburted a 44 for the Rebels.

Both teams return to action Thursday as Crestview travels to Liberty, Labrae is scheduled to host Garfield.

VIKINGS WALK OFF THEIR WAY TO DISTRICTS

LEAVITTSBURG OH- LaBrae took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Newton Falls in Wednesday’s sectional final. The game was tied at one with LaBrae Varsity Vikings batting in the bottom of the seventh when Nate Goldner singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Dylan Simpson struck out 12.

LaBrae fired up the offense in the first inning, when Landon Brunstetter singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, Newton Falls tied things up at one. Cameron Huff singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Simpson was the winning pitcher for LaBrae. The fireballer lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out 12 and walking zero.

Huff took the loss for Newton Falls. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one.

Goldner led the Vikings with two hits in four at bats.

VIKINGS FINISH OFF SWEEP OF BROOKFIELD

BROOKFIELD OH- Dylan Simpson didn’t allow a single run as LaBrae defeated Brookfield 9-0 on Tuesday. Simpson allowed just four hits.

The Vikings got on the board in the first inning when Simpson singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

LaBrae notched three runs in the fifth inning. Austin Rowe, Aiden Doll, and Ethan Magoulick powered the big inning with RBIs.

Simpson led the Vikings to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The ace allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight.

Doll, Owen Boone, Rowe, Armstrong, Simpson, Brogan Collins, Landon Brunstetter, and Simpson each collected one hit to lead LaBrae’s offense.

LABRAE PITCHING COMBINES FOR A NO HITTER

LEAVITTSBURG, OHIO – One of the things that makes a baseball manager smile is having the offense and pitching click at the same time. LaBrae made sure to do so Monday night, handling Brookfield 14-0.

The pitching couldn’t have been any better for LaBrae as they used three pitchers to combine for a five inning no hitter. Landon Brunstetter started the no-hit charge, going three and two-thirds innings allowing zero hits and zero runs, striking out nine and walking zero.

LaBrae put seven runs on the board in the third inning, further extending their already sizable lead. The offensive onslaught by LaBrae was led by Brunstetter, Austin Rowe, Simpson, and Swaton, all driving in runs in the home team half of the inning. LaBrae also had the run game going, swiping six stolen bases as a team. The speedy Brogan Collins led with three stolen bags.

Next, LaBrae will look to take out Brookfield again on Tuesday and head their third victory in a row. First pitch from Brookfield is all squared away for 5:00 p.m.

LABRAE HAPPY TO BE BACK TO WINNING

LEAVITTSBURG OH-

Jackson-Milton scored three runs in the first inning, but LaBrae still won 6-4 on Friday. The offensive onslaught by Jackson-Milton was led by Aaren Romigh and Vinnie Fay, all driving in runs in the frame.

Jackson-Milton opened up scoring in the first inning, when Romigh doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The Vikings pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run, and another error scored one run.

Owen Boone pitched LaBrae to victory. Boone went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out four. Landon Brunstetter threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Brunstetter recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Billy Sloan took the loss for Jackson-Milton. The pitcher surrendered six runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one.

LaBrae tallied eight hits in the game. Brogan Collins, Austin Rowe,  all managed multiple hits. Rowe, and Collins each collected two hits to lead. LaBrae didn’t commit a single error in the field. Collins had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Sloan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jackson-Milton in hits.

LABRAE TAKES THE WIN TO START PIVOTAL MVAC SERIES

LEAVITTSBURG, OHIO- The LaBrae Vikings took down the Crestview Rebels 5-2 as they captured their twelfth victory of the season.

Crestview fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ethan Feezle singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. LaBrae answered quickly and pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning when Dylan Simpson’s sac fly scored one run and Brogan Collins singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Landon Brunstetter led the Vikings at the plate with two hits in three at bats. Simpson led the Vikings with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.

Brunstetter was also on the hill for LaBrae and allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four.

Feezle went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Crestview in hits and led things off on the pitcher’s mound as the bulldog lasted six innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out five.

Crestview will get another crack at Labrae on Wednesday at 5:00 pm.

VIKINGS CONTINUE ON THEIR WARPATH

HUBBARD, OHIO- The LaBrae Vikings win a contest against the Hubbard Eagles on Thursday,  6-1. In the second inning,

LaBrae  got their offense started when an error scored one run.

Owen Boone went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead LaBrae in hits and was also the winning pitcher. The pitcher allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Joey Komlanc took the loss for the Hubbard Eagles. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing five hits and five runs while walking one.

Hubbard will look to get back in the win column when they play Warren Harding on Friday at 5:00 pm. Labrae will look to keep things on the high note when they play Bristol at 5:00 pm on Friday.
