BLUE DEVILS DO JUST ENOUGH

BERLIN CENTER OH- In their last non conference game of the season Western Reserve cranked it up a notch bringing division 1 Louisville to town. After jumping out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter, the Devils has to scrap together all their effort to keep the Leopards from coming back in the game. Reserve hung on with a 45-42 win.

Louisville nearly made a dramatic last second comeback, Aubrey Thorne came off the bench and nailed a three from the corner to cut it to 45-42 with 16 seconds left. On the other end, the Leopards got the quick defensive rebound, and they had the last shot of the game, but it wouldn’t fall.

Dani Vuletich led the Blue Devils with 19 points. All of her points came in the first half. Kennedy Miller took advantage of the Leopards defense focusing on Vuletich, and scored 12 points in the second half. Miller finished with 16.

Louisville was paced by Sherilynn Mullett who finished with 11. Paige Cole was also in double figures with 10.

Western Reserve looks ahead to two games against Waterloo in two days as they’ll host the Vikings on Wednesday, and travel there on Thursday. Louisville will now get ready for tournament play as they’ll host Boardman on Saturday at 1:00.

 

PRESIDENTS MEMORIAL TROPHY STAYS IN JACKSON MILTON

NORTH JACKSON OH- The rivalry game got heated Friday between Western Reserve and Jackson Milton. Emotions seemed at stake for every call. The Presidents Memorial trophy goes to the team that wins the second matchup between the Blue Devils and Blue Jays. Last season, the trophy went to the Jays, and this season it was no different. After trailing by four at half, Jackson Milton fought back to win by four 46-42.

Mason Robison led the Blue Jays with 10 points. The Senior is now 9 points away from the 1,000 milestone. Cole Grope was behind him scoring 9 for the Blue Jays. Frank Prozy and AJ Bouch both contributed 8.

David Ashburn paced the Blue Devils with 9 points. Ryan Gordon, and Noah Klasic both added 8 for the Devils.

Jackson Milton will return to action Tuesday hosting Columbiana. Western Reserve will also return home to host Waterloo.

BLUE DEVILS WASTE NO TIME WITH LOWELLVILLE

The Western Reserve Blue Devils wasted little time in taking down the Lowellville Rockets Thursday night by a score of 65-19. The Blue Devils built a 37-4 midway point advantage .

Nine different Wesrtern Reserve made the score book with Danielle Vuletich leading the way with 21 points. The victory moved the Blue Devils to 13-5 for the season.

The Rocket’s Savanah Procick led her team with 7 points.

VULETICH JOINS 1000 REBOUND CLUB

BERLIN CENTER OH- Last season, Dani Vuletich notched her 1,000th Point, and Thursday night she had another milestone to reach. Coming in to the game against Jackson Milton, Vuletich needed 12 rebounds to get to 1,000. She secured 14 on the night, and the Blue Devils won 54-33.

Vuletich led all scorers with 28 points to go along with her 14 rebounds. Brooke Schantz finished in double figures as well with 10 points.

The Blue Jays were led by Chelsea Williams with 11 points.

Western Reserve looks ahead to a rematch with McDonald on the road on Saturday. Jackson Milton will travel to Waterloo on Thursday.

RESERVE TAKES WIN IN SHOOTOUT WITH TROJANS

BERLIN CENTER OH- The 3 ball was launching all night long as Western Reserver and Sebring dropped in 24 3s but the Blue Devils out-shot the visiting Sebring Trojans to win 70 -54.

The Blue Devils had 14 3’s with Gabe Platt hitting on 4 of them to finish with 15 points.

Noah Klasic was the leading scorer for Reserve with a game high 21 points. Sebring’s Dyaln Johnson and Connor Shepard each scored 13 points.

Western Reserve season record now stands at 6-7 while the Trojans mark falls to 4-13.

RESERVE TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS AGAINST RAMS

The Western Reserve offense was in high gear as  the host Blue Devils dropped the visiting Rams of Mineral Ridge 79-29 in Monday night’s action. The Blue Devil’s put up scores of 19  19  28  15 in the quarters.

Western Reserve’s stand-out Danielle Vuletich was the leading scorer with a game high 24 points with Kennedy Miller following her up with 13 points.9 different Lady Blue Devils  put their name in the scorebook.

The victory  put the Blue Devils at 11-4 for the season.

WEST BRANCH MUSCLES PAST BLUE DEVILS

BERLIN CENTER OH- Western Reserve’s schedule is full of tough non conference matchups, and Monday night against West Branch was no different. The Blue Devils welcomes in a Division 2 powerhouse. West Branch came back from being down 19-11 in the second quarter to pull away with a 46-35 win.

Once being down 19-11 in the 2nd, West Branch went on a 14-0 run ranging from the 2nd quarter to the 3rd. The biggest shot of the run was a buzzer beater three by senior Bella Lout

Once West Branch went up 25-19, Western Reserve bounced back and tied the game at 25-25. However, it was all Warriors from that point on.

Sydney Mercer led the Warriors with a game-high 15 points. Jillian Pidgeon contributed 9 points and was critical to the Warriors offensive spark in the second quarter.

The Blue Devils were led by Dani Vuletich who scored 13 points. Olivia Pater was also in double figures with 11.

West Branch looks to keep winning as they host Minerva on Saturday. Western Reserve will try to get back on track traveling to Springfield on Thursday.

HOWARD JOINS 1000 POINT CLUB IN MCDONALD WIN

BERLIN CENTER OH- Molly Howard and her McDonald squad came in to Thursday night with just three games under their belt after being shut down for more than a month.  Nonetheless the Blue Devils haven’t seemed to miss a step Thursday, and Howard eclipsed 1,000 points in a 49-42 McDonald win.

Howard totaled 26 points in the contest, which led all scorers. Sophia Constantino was also in double figures finishing with 11.

Dani Vuletich put together a double double in a losing effort. She finished with 14 points, and 12 rebounds. Olivia Pater chipped in 12 points for Reserve. Kennedy Miller added 9.

 

POLAND KEEPS ON WINNING

CANFIELD OH- Poland played their second game in less than 24 hours Tuesday afternoon, as they took on Western Reserve in the South Range Holiday Hoops Classic. The Bulldogs beat Fitch Monday night at home, and turned around Tuesday afternoon to beat the Blue Devils 51-39.

Poland won with defense, like they have so many times before. They switched defenses well all day and gave Reserve all kinds of problems. The loss was the first of the season for the Blue Devils.

Jackie Grisdale had her best game of the season with 30 points on the day. She went 8 for 8 at the free throw line. Mary Brant finished with a strong 8 point performance to chip in.

Dani Vuletich led the Blue Devils with 17 points. Kennedy Miller was also in double figures with 10.

Poland will kick off the New Year on Monday as they make a trip back to South Range to take on the Raiders. The Blue Devils have a game against Lowellville on Monday.

DEVILS SNATCH VICTORY AWAY FROM SALEM

CANFIELD OH- In a collection of great teams gathering at South Range on Monday for the Holiday Hoops Classic, Western Reserve and Salem was a marquee matchup on day 1. The Quakers led 31-20 after 3 quarters, However, the Blue Devils raved all the way back in the final frame. They outscored the Quakers 16-5 in the 4th. Tied at 36 headed to overtime, the Devils pulled out the 39-36 win.

Olivia Pater led the Devils with 11 points. Kennedy Miller, and Brooke Schantz both contributed 8.

Kyla Jamison led the way for Salem scoring a game-high 14 points. Annie Davidson added 9 for the Quakers.

Both teams get back to it tomorrow in Day 2 of the Holiday Hoops Classic. Salem will square off with Ursuline at 10:00. Western Reserve will play Poland at 12:00.
