SALEM OH- After a heartbreaking loss in week 10 to rival West Branch, the Salem football team started playoff play looking to bounce back, and bounce back they did in a big way, with a 48-14 win over Woodridge.
The Quakers got things going early with a 15 play, 90 yard drive that lasted over 6 minutes in the 1st quarter, capping it off with an 8 yard touchdown run by Austin Sinkovich, to lead 7-0. The Bulldogs would answer with a 70 yard strike to tie things up in their first drive, and it looked like we were in for a battle.
Salem would add two more scores, to the Bulldogs’ one, in the 2nd to take a 28-14 lead into halftime. The Quaker defense would step up to the task in the second half, forcing 2 early fumbles, which would lead to 13 points, putting the game out of reach.
Blaize Exline would lead the way for Salem on offense, accounting for 147 yards receiving and five total scores (3 rushing, 2 receiving) while Austin Sinkovich would add 2 of his own (1 rushing, 1 receiving).
Up next for the Quakers (8-3) is a matchup with 3-seed Ursuline next week on the road. Kick off will be 7:00.
